Today we left work at 11 am b/c of the ice storm we were supposed to get. The storm didn’t hit until about 5 pm tonight when the temperatures dropped and the roads iced over. Dad’s clinics were closed b/c of the bad weather, so that was fun to have Dad home for the whole evening. Don came over around 4:30 pm and we all watched Batman Begins, Count of Monte Cristo and then we went hot tubing. It’s crazy, b/c it was raining ice pellets and my hair was frozen even though I never went under the water to get my hair wet! It was that cold! But it was fun to be in the hot water when it was so cold and sleeting outside.
It wasn’t just rain, it was kind of a rain/hail/snow mix. It hurt our feet so bad to walk on the patio b/c it was frozen. Don and Nick were crazy and jumped in the pool after getting in the hot tub first.
I don’t know if you can tell from this picture, but there are icicles hanging down from Autumn’s picnic table. I know those of your reading this that are in Utah or Idaho are saying, “whoop-dee-doo!” But this isn’t just snow…it’s ice! Everything was shut down b/c it’s impossible to drive on.
All the trees branches were hanging down b/c of the weight of the ice. Look at this poor little plant completely covered in ice. Anyways, it was about 11:30 when we finally got out of the hot tub. Nick, Don and I watched IRobot, and I am tired! I must be getting old, b/c I used to stay up until 2:30 am all the time, but now when I do that it kills me! It was a fabulous evening and if I have to be shut in b/c of the ice, I’m glad it was w/ my family and Don.
