Happy New Year 2010

IMG_2350 We had the best breakfast ever to start off our New Year…scrapple! We enjoyed it so much for Christmas that we decided to make some last night so we could fry it up and have it for breakfast today.

IMG_2353 What’s better than spending time w/ family and eating scrapple to start off the New Year?

IMG_2356 Emma was wanting to get in on some of the scrapple action. Too bad we ate every single morsel of it. Sorry, Emma.

IMG_2364 Lexie & Jon wanted to get back to their normal lives, so they left this morning. But before they left, Andrew wanted to go for a ride on the lawn mower. Autumn & Andrew are so lucky to have such a fun Papa who spoils them.

IMG_2367 They came inside to warm up and Nick & Nate were playing the Wii, but Autumn & Andrew wanted to play, too. So, we let them “play” w/ the Wii nun chucks. They thought they were pretty hot stuff b/c they got to “play” the Wii.

IMG_2369Mom watched Autumn while I went and got my nails done. I came back and we spent the rest of the afternoon watching episodes of the Office. Then as a fun surprise, Nate & Courtney said they would make dinner. We had San Francisco Pork and broccoli for dinner. They were the biggest pork chops I’ve ever seen and it was so succulent and flavorful. The recipe is below:

San Francisco Pork

Slice 1 large pork tenderloin per person
Fry pork in olive oil until browned on the outside
Take pork out of the pan and place on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil, and drain off left over grease in pan.
Put the pork back in the pan and pour this mixture over the top of the pork.

1/2 c soy sauce
1/2 c beef broth
1/4 c brown sugar
(If sauce is too thin, you can add a mixture of 1 tsp of corn starch and 1 Tbs of water)

Cover and simmer on low for 25 minutes or until pork is cooked through and tender. Serve with rice.

Anyways, we ate until we were stuffed. Then, at 8:00 I left Autumn w/ Mom & Dad and went to the movie theater. I met up w/ Liberty & Liz and Nate & Courtney to watch Sherlock Holmes. Nate & Courtney had stopped at Starbucks before coming to the theater and brought me a zebra hot chocolate. It was so stinkin’ good! The movie was amazing and intriguing and exciting and all good things. I really enjoyed it. If today was any indication as to how 2010 is going to be, then I’m excited for this new year b/c today was a great day.
