This morning we were woken up when Dad knocked on the door to bring us a treat. They had an auction today so the seminary kids could use their seminary bucks. Dad took the foosball table to auction off b/c Mom doesn’t want it at the house anymore. One of the kids in his class bid on these gourmet chocolates from Sublime Chocolates and gave it to Dad to tell him thank you for being such a great teacher. He shared some of them w/ Autumn & I. I thought this one was really cool b/c of the design on the top looked like paper, but it was chocolate!
Dad called to say he was going to pick Autumn up from daycare around 4:30 and to just come over to their house when I got off. Some guys came today and put lacquer on the cabinets that they stained yesterday. The picture on the left is the entertainment center in the living room and the picture on the right is the desk and and the hole is where the fridge will go. I am SO GLAD the cupboards above the desk have doors on them now.
Having the cupboards stained in the kitchen makes a HUGE difference and it really looks like it’s coming together now, which is exciting.
Yesterday the carpet guys came and put new carpet in Mom & Dad’s room. It’s hard to tell in this picture, but it’s a light tan and has a subtle square pattern in it. Dad doesn’t like it b/c it shows every footprint. The rugs in the picture on the right are going to be runners for in the hallways and match the rug Mom had made out of same fabric to go under the table in the dining room.
The picture on the left is of the new Berber carpet in the separate quarters sitting room. It’s super nice and makes the room look a lot bigger and nicer. The picture on the right is of Nate’s bathroom. Dad put tape all around the doors so he could paint them white. He was going to re-wallpaper one little spot in the bathroom where Nate had put up some pictures w/ tape and when he took them down it ripped off little spots of the wallpaper. What’s ironic is that now we’ll have to re-wallpaper the whole bathroom now b/c the tape Dad used to tape around the doors ripped the wallpaper off and it looks horrible.
This is the new light fixture above the kitchen table. I LOVE it! Also, the A/C guy came today and fixed that for the main part of the house, so Mom is super happy and can now start moving back into their bedroom.
Dad & Autumn stopped at the store to get some groceries for dinner. I went out to help them bring in the food and noticed this HUGE bumble bee laying dead in the driveway. It was ginormous, b/c everything is bigger in Texas. I HATE bees and wasps w/ a passion, but I have to admit it was kind of cool looking up close.
Dad had a hankerin’ for grilled cheese sandwiches, but since Mom has no stove we had to improvise. We couldn’t find her electric griddle, so we used her George Foreman grill and it worked great. Since there’s no chairs in the separate quarters and we couldn’t go out in the living room b/c it was too dusty and dirty, we improvised and Autumn sat on the toilet to eat her grilled cheese sandwich. She thought that was so funny.
We all laid on the bed in the guest room and were watching SYTYCD, but Autumn wouldn’t hold still and kept trying to cover Mom up w/ a beach towel. She kept telling Autumn she didn’t want to be covered up b/c she’s a hot mama. Autumn kept saying, “You not want be covered up? You a hot mama?” We were laughing so hard b/c she kept saying, “hot mama.” Dad also said that Autumn took him in the bathroom and said, “Oh, dear!” and covered her mouth b/c of all the messed up wallpaper. I wonder where she gets this stuff? It’s so funny when she says stuff like that. The other day I heard her say, “Oh my gosh!” And then tonight when I was giving her a bath I told her it was time to wash her hair after I let her play for a little bit and she looked up at me w/ her big black eyes and said, “Just a little bit longer please!” How could I say no to that? I am so happy that today is Thursday (this week went by fast for me), b/c that means tomorrow is Friday and it’s a 3 day weekend!
