San Antonio Or Bust

Today at 4:00 Mom & Dad & Nick & Autumn picked me up from work and we hit the road to San Antonio.  They had gone to the Gyro Guy’s place to eat before picking me up, and they had brought me a gyro to go!  SO GOOD!  We were able to make it through downtown Dallas without hitting a bunch of rush hour traffic, which was really nice.  We made sure to bring the portable DVD player so we had something to keep Autumn entertained.  However, we didn’t have to bust that out until the latter end of the trip b/c she kept herself pretty entertained.  She played with her dolls for a long time and then made a tent with her blanket and played under there for a while.  She liked popping her head out and yelling, “BOO!”

She said her feet were getting hot, so she took her shoes off and PHEW EEE!  Her feet stunk so bad!  She has the most sour little vinegar toes.  She thought she was hilarious b/c we were all trying not to gag at how bad her feet smelled.

This truck was in front of us on the highway and we were all struck by the message on the back.  It says, “Please drive safely.  Heaven can wait,” and it was a truck that delivers caskets!  We tried our best to drive safely, but some of those San Antonio drivers are CRAZY and would just completely stop on off ramps instead of merging like they’re supposed to!

As we were driving it seemed like a storm was following us once we got close to Austin.  The sun was setting and so part of the sky was really light and pretty while the other part looked dark and foreboding b/c of the storm.  It was pretty cool.  I loved being able to just look out my window and see all of the beautiful countryside passing by.  There were lots of green fields w/ cows and livestock and lots of neat old looking barns.  I kept thinking to myself, “Oh!  That would be a great place to do a photo shoot.”

Autumn said she needed to go potty, so we stopped at a Burger King to let her go to the restroom.  We were getting a little bit hungry, so we got $1 burgers and let Autumn play on the playground while we ate.  Rule #1 made me laugh b/c it says, “kids must be supervised by a HAPPY adult!”  Well, what if you’re not happy?  LOL!

We finally reached our hotel, and it is NICE!  Each room has a big flat screen TV and a fridge and everything looks new.  I was impressed, b/c we had heard some of the hotels near the Air Force base can be a little shady.  This one definitely is NOT shady.  I left Autumn in Mom & Dad’s room so I could take our stuff across the hall to our room, and when I came back she was sitting at the desk wearing some new princess jammies that Mimi had gotten her while she was in Utah.  Mimi also got Autumn a little activity book that has princess stickers in it.  Autumn was sitting at the desk just beaming w/ joy about her presents.

She was so energetic and excited to be at the hotel and hopped up on the bed to show Papa her new princess jammies and stickers.

Dad was putting the drinks from the cooler into the fridge and Autumn saw that he had some applesauce, so she wanted some.  They went on a little trip to the lobby to get a spoon and then came back to eat it.  She was thrilled to have her own special chair to sit on (AKA the cooler).  She looks like she’s scratching her crotch in this picture b/c she has a chigger bite right where her leg and hip meet and it itches her like crazy, so she’s always scratching it.  But, it looks like she’s a boy that’s adjusting his “package” so we keep telling her to, “Hold your ears.”  That’s what Mom & Dad had to tell Nick & Nate all the time when they were little and would grab their crotches.

We watched the season finale of Next Food Network Star b/c we hadn’t seen it last week.  I was happy that Aarti won, b/c I like her personality.  However, I will probably never make any of the food she does b/c it’s ingredients that aren’t easy to find in your regular grocery store.  Anyways, after that I finally was able to get Autumn out of Mom & Dad’s room and into our room.  I decided to be a fun Mom & let her jump on the bed (just for a little bit).  I got some cool pictures of her hair flying through the air.

Once I finally got her to lay down, she was out within a few minutes.  I watched a little bit of TV and did some blogging and then made myself go to bed b/c we are going to have an early morning tomorrow.
