We got up at 7:30 this morning to make it to stake conference by 8:30 and we actually got a seat on the soft benches! YAY! I was taking pictures of Autumn this morning before we left and these two pictures made me laugh b/c of her expressions. In this one she’s like, “Mama, really? I’m trying to eat my cereal. Can you get that camera out of my face and just let me eat in peace?”
Then this one is the forced/fake smile when I told her to smile like a princess. But even then, I think she’s a cutie.
Stake conference was really good. Bro. Jones told a story about a girl in Brazil that was learning about the church (he was a mission president there) and the missionaries taught her about tithing and she wanted to pay her tithing, but also had to pay her tuition for law school and wouldn’t have enough money to pay both. But, she decided to exercise her faith and pay her tithing and the next day at work her boss, who had never really talked to her before asked her how school was going and she just said fine. Well, his secretary came over after he left and told the girl that he wanted to pay for all of her tuition this semester and all of her books and the rest of her tuition for the rest of school. She was so amazed and grateful that Heavenly Father would bless her so much. It was incredibly touching and I had tears flowing down my cheeks. Autumn had been coloring and looked up at me and said, “Mama, you crying?” She reached up and wiped my tears w/ her little hands and that made me cry even more. She has her moments where she can be a little stinker, but then moments like that make up for all of it and even more. When we got home, I looked in the backseat to unbuckle her and saw this…she was sitting there flipping through the Friend (a church magazine for kids) w/ her legs crossed. Such a little diva!
We got home, got changed, and then went over to Mom & Dad’s for dinner. Dad had started some creamy crock pot chicken before church and I made some rice and we had that for lunch. Then Nick & I watched 5 recorded episodes of Sandra Lee’s Money Saving Meals. I LOVE that show but it’s always on when I’m at church so I recorded it on Mom & Dad’s DVR. I love the food she makes and then how she breaks it down and tells you how inexpensive each serving is. I am for sure going to try some of the recipes she showed. I laid down and took a little 30 minute power nap. Autumn was in Mom & Dad’s room watching one of my favorite movies from childhood, Chipmunk Adventure, while eating one of our new favorite treats. Dad got these and they’re actually really good. The pepper gives them a little bit of a kick.
Autumn Bottom was getting feisty and ornery and asked me to put on Pocahontas for her, which I did. I was making some of Steve’s amazing cookies and I went to check on her and she was out like a light. I love that she fell asleep in her little pink jelly shoes (Lexie used to do that all the time when she was little). She’s so adorable when she’s asleep and her tan legs look so long in this picture. She’s going to be tall just like her Mama.
Too bad I don’t have killer long eyelashes like she does. While she slept, I finished baking all the cookies and then watched the pre-season Cowboys game. I am so happy it’s almost football season again. Football and Sunday afternoons just go hand in hand at our house. I also typed up a 3 page letter to Nate b/c I haven’t written to him in a while. We had little individual frozen pizzas for dinner (we are really missing Mom, especially since she made rouladen for all the sisters and Rufio for dinner tonight). Then the rest of the evening was just spent playing w/ Autumn and watching Army Wives. We got home at 10:00 and I was surprised (b/c she had taken such a late nap) but Autumn went right to sleep. I, on the other hand, stayed up WAY too late talking to a friend from Utah who is having boy drama and then talked to Michael about all the great things that are happening in his life right now. I don’t know why, but I had a thought pop into my head that good things are headed my way in December of this year, so I’ll be excited to see what happens.
