Today for lunch, I went to McDonald’s and got a $1 burger and $1 fries so I could use my coupon for a free 12 oz berry shake. It was pretty good and reminded me of the berry shake you can get at Costco.
I went and got Autumn after work/school and we went over to Mom & Dad’s. Dad had put out some frozen steaks to thaw so we could cook those for dinner, but I looked on the wrapper and they were from 2005!!! So, I told him to grab a rotisserie chicken from WalMart while he was there getting a prescription filled so we could have that for dinner. Rather than just throwing them away, we took the 3 steaks over to Curt’s dogs b/c we knew they would enjoy them, which they definitely did. Lucky dogs…getting steak for dinner!
We went in the house and said hi to Mary for a little bit and then started walking home. Autumn insisted that Papa carry her across the busy street and then wanted to walk on her own when we got to the other side.
Right as we were about to go over the hill into our yard, we heard a car on the road honk and it was Curt pulling into his driveway. So, we walked back over so Autumn could say hi to him. We sat and talked for a minute and all of us had sweat just dripping down our faces even though we were just sitting there. It’s really that stinkin’ hot here!
On the way over AND on the way home, Autumn kept talking about how I slipped while going up the hill and how Mou had to help me. It’s so funny that she still remembers that and talks about it every time we go by that hill. She went down the hill herself and said, “I not need help, Mama. I not fall down. Mou not help me.” She’s such a funny little bug to bring that up after all this time.
She saw this little flower (weed) growing on the hill and had to stop and pick it so she could give it to Mimi. Dad and I had to laugh b/c Mimi won’t be home in time to get the flower, so I took a picture of it so that we can give it to Mimi over the internet instead.
After cooling off a little bit and getting a drink, Dad said he was going out to the fort to put in another steering wheel so that Autumn could have one and Andrew could have one. Autumn was excited to help him and carried the new (new to us) steering wheel out to the fort.
We climbed up there and then Dad found out he needed a longer part to put the steering wheel on, so he and Autumn went down the slide together to go get the part in the garage.
I had taken Autumn’s bubbles out there with me to keep her entertained. I kept wishing I had my nice camera (instead of just my point and shoot) camera, but I was still able to get some good pictures.
Pretty blue skies with the setting sun
My sweet, sassy, silly, little sweaty head.
Even though the sun was going down and we weren’t in direct sunlight, we had sweat literally pouring off our faces b/c it was so hot. It was ridiculous, b/c we weren’t doing anything, but that’s Texas weather for you. Anyways, I told Autumn to go over and see if Papa was sweaty b/c she usually tells him when he is and makes a big deal out of it. Sure enough, he was and so she put her bottle of bubbles on his forehead to cool him off (I do that to her sometimes with cold bottled water).
When she realized that wasn’t working, she decided to blow bubbles on his head to see if that would help any, which it didn’t. But it’s the thought that counts, right?
Here is Autumn testing out the new steering wheel. It works like a charm. Thank you, Papa!
Autumn was little Miss Independent today and picked out her own outfit and had me put part of her hair in a braid and the other part in a pony tail. Then tonight when we got back in the house, she asked me to take it all out and put her hair in a side ponytail. She had me move the flower to the other side, add a clear clip on the top, and she also put on a headband (which you can’t see in this picture). I think she was trying to blow me a kiss in this picture which is why her lips look all funny. She’s my little clothing queen.
We got back in the house to cool off and Autumn asked for smoothies, and Papa was happy to oblige. They tasted so good and were so refreshing after being out in the heat. We called Mom on speaker phone b/c Autumn wanted to talk to her. I am glad she can be there to help Rufio, but we also miss her and will be glad to have her home. It was a great evening and to top it off, Dad got a letter from Nate that I posted for y’all’s (yes, that’s a real word here in Texas) reading enjoyment.
Also, I think I might do something a little wild and spontaneous tomorrow and buy a ticket to the midnight showing of the new Julia Roberts’ movie “Eat, Pray, Love.” I really want to see it and if I go at midnight, Autumn will be asleep and Nick can be home with her. Maybe I’ll see if some friends want to go with me or maybe I’ll be all brave and independent and just go by myself!
Also, it’s Miss Bianca’s first birthday today and I am eternally thankful that Ashley & I are friends for lots of reasons. But one of those reasons is that Autumn & Bianca can know each other and have a relationship.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Miss B!
WE LOVE YOU!
