I forgot to blog about our final gift in the 12 Days of Christmas gifts we were getting. We spent Christmas Eve night at Mom & Dad’s so we didn’t get it until the next night. It was a huge bag of Circus Animal cookies (which I love). This is the final note that came with them:
Christmas Eve has arrived, and on this our last night,
One dozen drummers would be a grand sight.
But the noise of their drums would hurt your head,
So eat all these cookies we bring you instead.
And so we wish you a joyous Noel,
We know that you’re hoping our name we will tell.
But our name stays a secret, we just cannot share.
It wouldn’t be right, no it wouldn’t, so there!
Merry Christmas!
I am SO SAD that they didn’t say who they were, b/c I really wanted to thank them. So, if whoever it was reads my blog:
THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER!
It made Autumn & I feel so special and loved. The anticipation of seeing what each night’s poem and gift would be was such a thrill.
We went to church today and it was sad to realize this is the last time I’ll be teaching my class b/c they move on to another class next Sunday. I wasn’t sure if I would be teaching the 9 year old class again, and I found out today I’m not. They are going to have me teach the 11 turning 12 year olds. I’m excited about it.
We came home and changed clothes and then went over to Mom & Dad’s to eat. Mom had a spiral cut ham and funeral potatoes all ready for lunch. We ate and then just vegged out and watched football and movies. After a while, the kids were getting restless so I took them outside so they could drive the truck around some more.
We stayed in the back yard instead of going over to the lot in case the battery died, since I don’t know how long it lasts w/out being charged. Andrew drove around for a little while and then I got the fun idea of taking the truck to the top of the hill in the back to let them drive down that. Andrew hit the gas before I was ready and almost ran me over, but I got out of the way just in time.
After he drove for a while, Autumn wanted a turn. I love this picture of Andrew giving the thumbs up sign that Autumn was being a good driver, b/c 30 seconds later this happened…
…she ran into the fort. Luckily the truck only goes 2.5 miles per hour so it didn’t do any damage. I will NOT be teaching her how to drive when she turns 15. I’ll have to have someone else do it or else it could get ugly. LOL!
At one point, Autumn tried climbing into the back of the truck and Andrew hit the gas before she was all the way in, so she fell but was fine. So, I think they can both use some more practice in the truck and need to learn to pay attention to where they’re steering. I let them drive around in the front yard for a while and they thought they were so cool driving up and down the driveway like real cars do.
Christine stopped by for a minute to say hi and drop off some homemade goodies. Nate always teases and flirts w/ her, which is funny since he’s young enough to be her son. He sat down on the couch next to her and tried putting his arm around her and she gave him this face! So funny.
The kids were playing on this slide (that they got to slide into the pool during the summer)that they got for Christmas and started fighting over it and who had to slide down it and who got to stand at the top and turn the steering wheel. So, Nate solved that problem by sitting on it so neither of them could use it. They were both really tired and hadn’t had naps yet so they both started bawling as if the world was over. Us grownups couldn’t help but laugh at how pathetic they were acting.
We watched Family Man b/c it’s a good Christmas movie and then Toy Story 3 for the kids. I started another 1,000 piece puzzle b/c I love doing puzzles. Lexie noticed Nate sitting on the couch w/ his hands behind his head and that Andrew was copying him b/c he loves his Uncle Nate and emulates what he does. So cute!
When 7:45 rolled around, this is how Mom & Emma & Autumn looked…all zonked out. We were all worn out from all the fun of the long weekend. I finally made myself walk away from the puzzle at 10:00 so I could take Autumn home and put her to bed. She wasn’t very happy when I woke her up and I worried that she wouldn’t go back to sleep when we got home. But she went right back to sleep and I went to bed, too since I have to go back to work tomorrow. It’s been a fun-filled family weekend.
