After swimming for a while, it was time to clean up the shrimp boil and get cleaned up so we could go to a party. When it was time to leave, only Lexie wanted to go w/ me and the kids. She’s so cute w/ her little baby bump.
We went over to this big grassy area between the shopping centers where they were having free activities for kids like hay rides, a petting zoo w/ ducks and bunnies, pony rides, and free Nestle Tollhouse cookies. We went and got our free cookie and walked around for a little bit to try and decide which line we wanted to get in. We saw that they were setting up an area to have a lady dressed up as Mother Goose come and tell stories, so we asked someone when that was going to start and they said it would be another 15 minutes. It was so hot and the lines were way too long, so we decided to just leave.
We were able to convince the kids to leave by bribing them w/ ice cream. We took them to McDonald’s and got ice cream cones (I got a yogurt parfait) and let the kids run around and play. It was so wonderful to sit and talk w/ Lexie and spend time together as sisters.
After a while of letting them play, we went back to Mom & Dad’s house to see what everyone was up to. They had all taken naps and Jon hadn’t seen Tangled yet, so we watched that. Then we made ling lings and wanton salad for dinner. Lexie & the kids were hankerin’ for some dutch oven cooking. Earlier when we were at WalMart, Dad bought the kids some “garden shoes” that they can wear when they go outside.
We went out to the backyard to get the coals hot. The kids headed right for the stairs, even w/out me coaxing them to. I did tell Andrew to put his arm around Autumn. SO CUTE!
I am going to have to print off all the pictures we have of them kissing on these steps and put them in an album. I am so glad they will still kiss each other b/c I know that sooner than later they will think that’s gross and won’t do it.
We came back in the house and the kids helped Dad make the cobbler. This time he put tin foil first b/c last time the cobbler had a burnt taste to it. We did blackberry pie filling w/ a white vanilla cake.
We took our cobbler out to the hot coals and turned on the lights by the shed. Dad noticed this frog or toad (I can’t tell the difference) and picked it up. I was about to get a picture of Autumn touching it when my camera shut down and said the battery needed to be replaced. Luckily I always have a back up so I ran in the house and replaced the battery and ran back out so I wouldn’t miss anything.
Dad made the kids stand back while he put the hot coals on the bottom and top of the dutch oven. Then they went over and stood by him so we could get a picture.
He went out and checked the cobbler every 15 minutes to turn it. The kids were playing in the back room so they didn’t go out with him to do that, plus he didn’t want them by the hot coals anyways. After 45 minutes it was ready and he served up the cobbler in bowls and I put a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I feel so bad for Mom b/c she can’t have any.
This picture just makes me laugh b/c Andrew was so tired that he could barely keep his head up. It was 9:45 at night and both he and Autumn had been going non-stop all day. Neither of them had a nap and were both beyond exhausted. He was so tired that he didn’t even notice he had cobbler on his cheeks. As soon as we were done eating, I packed Autumn up and took her home. I was surprised she only had a few minor melt downs today b/c she was so tired. It was a super fun day and we’re going to sleep like babies tonight.
