I got up at 7:00 this morning, got ready for the day, and went over to the local high school track where we kicked off our service project for youth conference. We partnered with other church youth groups to paint the fire hydrants in our city. It was pure chaos trying to get everyone where they needed to go, but it all got worked out.
Unbeknownst to me, I was assigned to be a site leader, so I just went w/ the flow. We went to one of the elementary schools, which was my group’s base site. There were paint cans waiting for us w/ some rags and water bottles. I had the kids get in groups and then we handed out maps where someone had plotted out and numbered all the fire hydrants in our area. We sent them off and told them when they were done to come back to the school. Once all the kids were gone, I just sat in my car and waited for them to finish. They did a great job and were done so quickly that we took them over to another area of the city that needed help. It was a great activity and we finally finished around 1:00.
Mom & Dad & Nick & Autumn went to Ft. Worth to meet up w/ the Johnson Family to celebrate Aunt Sandy’s birthday. After they ate, they walked around some botanical gardens and Mom texted me this photo. I LOVE it!
She also texted me this cute picture of all the kids. It’s crazy how much they’re all growing up! It’s such a huge thing, and I don’t take it for granted, that Mom & Dad help me out w/ Autumn so much. I never have to worry about her b/c I know she’s being well taken care of. It makes me so happy that she’s off having fun.
Sis. Lee said that since I did the dance last night, I didn’t need to worry about being there tonight for the rest of youth conference. So, I went to Mom & Dad’s house to let Autumn out, grab some lunch, and then I went and got my nails done at 2:00. It’s so nice and relaxing to get them done. I got done and went back to Mom & Dad’s house and just edited pics and blogged for a while until the family got back from Ft. Worth.
I had to get a pic of these gorgeous iris in Mom & Dad’s front yard. They are so pretty, and I love it that there are some deep purple ones but also some ivory/cream colored ones.
I was snapping a close up of this one b/c I like how you can see the “veins” of the iris. Can you spot the legs of a little spider creeping out from behind one of the petals? We spent the rest of the afternoon/evening taking cat naps and watching movies together. It was a great day all around for everyone.
