This morning Autumn & I got up, snuggled in bed while watching cartoons, and then we got up and got ready for the day. I had a nail appointment at 10:00 b/c my nails were grown out half way up my nail bed. They were out of control. While I got my nails done, Lily waxed Autumn’s eyebrows and painted her nails w/ a fancy spider web on the thumb nails. They are so good to us!
We went next door to the kids consignment store, and found a pair of nice shoes for school for just $3.50! SCORE! By this time, it was lunchtime so we went to Market Street & got our favorite penne dolcelatta to share. She looks so grown up to me in this picture & her eyelashes are so long!
We came home and I let her play for a little bit before it was time to get ready for her cheer game at 2:00. It was PERFECT football weather out today. It was windy, so some of the girls wore long-sleeved shirts & pants.
Coach Rachel gathered the girls around her & they were whispering conspiratorially. I love the cute look sneaky smiles on the girls’ faces.
For some reason the Dads were all sitting by themselves away from the group, so they were plotting to go over and do a cheer just for the Dads. It was really cute and the Dads cheered really loud when they were done.
Half way through the game, Autumn came over to me and said that her eye was really hurting. I think she might have gotten something in it, so I had her blink a lot to make herself cry and get whatever it was out.
After the game we went over to Papa & Mimi’s house to let Emma out. They were gone to Houston to watch the BYU football game & then were spending the night at Lexie & Jon’s. We got there and I was surprised to see Nick, b/c I thought he was going to be at work. He called in sick b/c he had a really bad barking cough. We watched “The Corpse Bride” b/c it was on TV & I ended up taking a nap. Then Autumn wanted to go outside and play so we went out to the fort. I LOVE seeing her long hair fly behind her when she swings. Then we walked around the back yard, went looking for rolly pollys, accidentally disturbed a few ant piles (luckily neither of us got bit), and then Autumn wanted to drive the truck around.
She kept driving past me and making funny faces.
After a while, she asked if she could drive out on the street. Since Mom & Dad live in such a low traffic neighborhood & are next to a cul-de-sac, I told her that would be fine. I walked out into the street w/ her to make sure no cars were coming. She’s a pretty good little driver.
I really wanted a picture of her in the truck in front of the new stop sign. This is like fast forwarding 10 years. The stop sign can stand for STOP growing! I can’t believe she’ll be 7 in a few months. AHHHH!
After all that fun, we finally came in b/c the sun was going down and it was getting cold. We ate dinner and then watched the last 1/2 of Nightmare Before Christmas w/ Nick b/c that was what he was watching on TV. We came home and I got Autumn to bed and then watched A League Of Their Own b/c … you guessed it … it was on TV. It’s such a good movie!
I was also making Texas Sheet Cake, b/c I had a hankerin’. I used to make this ALL.THE.TIME on my mission, and had the recipe memorized. But, since that was so long ago I had forgotten it. I asked on the Slovene missionary Facebook page if anyone had the recipe, & Jonesy came through. It tasted just as good as I remembered. YUM!
