It was just a normal Tuesday morning today, until 10:00. Mom came & picked me up at work and we headed to the airport so I could catch my flight from DFW to Denver to San Francisco. I have to say that I am NOT impressed w/ Frontier at all. They charge $25 for just a small carry on, and $20 for a full size suitcase??? If you wait & check your carry on at the airport instead of online, it’s $50!!! Also, their seats are super small & super close together. They even charge for just a soda. UGH. Anyways, we got to Denver & my flight was delayed for 2 hours b/c of bad (rainy) weather in San Francisco. So, I got some Quiznos for lunch & found a quiet spot where I could relax, plug in my computer, & blog.
I really like this cool tile floor in the middle of the terminal I was at. The flight was delayed another 30 minutes, but we finally left and flew to San Francisco. I went & got my rental car & they upgraded me to a Chevy Equinox for the same price as a small car! WOO HOO! It drove really nice & it was fun being in a bigger SUV than a little putt putt car.
I had let Hazel know my status the whole time, and she had to leave for a meeting at 7:00 & wouldn’t be home until 9:30. Since I had never met her husband or kids before, I didn’t want to just go hang out at their house incase it was awkward w/out her there. So, I drove to her town and decided to find something to eat since it was dinnertime. I was randomly driving around, since I’d never been there before and I let out a little yell of joy when I saw this place called, “Sultan’s Kebab.” I went in and ordered a kebab. It was NOTHING like the Kebapci’s I love in Slovenija, so I was disappointed b/c I had high expectations. It was good, just not what I was expecting.
I finally made my way to Hazel’s b/c I didn’t want to get there too late. She wasn’t home from her meeting yet, but I got to meet her husband & her son (her daughter was already asleep). Brad was so nice & helped me look up the train & bus routes to get to the studio in San Francisco tomorrow. She got home around 9:30 and we stayed up and talked for an hour. It was so great to reconnect w/ her again. We never actually served together, so it was wonderful to get to know her better and hear what she’s been up to since the mission. I’m SO THANKFUL that she offered to let me stay w/ them, b/c it’s saving me a ton of money on a hotel.
Texas is 2 hours ahead, so my body felt like it was 1:00 am by the time I finally climbed into bed. Plus, I was tired from traveling & I knew I wouldn’t sleep well b/c of how exciting tomorrow is going to be. Mom texted me this picture of Autumn! She cut 13” off of her hair & Autumn is going to donate it to Locks Of Love. You can see the ponytail sitting next to a ruler on the counter behind her. We had talked a lot about doing this, so I wasn’t shocked or surprised when Mom sent this. As long as Autumn’s happy with it, I’m happy with it. I think she looks so cute! It will be fun to her w/ short hair in person in a few days. I’m SO EXCITED to meet THE Becky Higgins tomorrow!!!
