Tonight for our activity it was combined w/ the Young Men. Each class was given a list of homes in the ward, and we were to stop by each house & collect any canned goods they wanted to give us for the local food pantry. Our ward was assigned canned meat, but we were happy to take anything the people in the ward wanted to give in the way of non-perishable food items. I think our goal was around 200 cans, and due to the generosity of the people in our ward they donated more than double that! After the activity, we all came back to the church & had Klondike bars for the treat. I stopped by WalMart on the way home to get some items for lunch at work. It kills my budget to eat out, so if I come prepared w/ food then I’m not as tempted to eat out. Yay for cheap frozen meals & cans of soup! I also don’t take it for granted that I’m able to go to the store & buy what I need. I’m so thankful every day for that luxury that a lot of people don’t have!
