My First Black Friday & Leaves That Giggle

P1030816 I have never done any Black Friday shopping before, b/c I love my sleep too much and have never found any deals that were worth all the hassle.  But, tonight Mom decided she wanted to try it for the first time too, so I got Autumn to sleep at we headed for WalMart at 11:30.  We found some Disney Princess dolls that were on sale for $5, some pajamas for the kids for only $5, and then we stood back to watch all the crazy people that were hovering around crates of electronics.  At midnight, the cut the plastic off the crates and there was a flurry of activity as everyone grabbed for what they wanted.  It was actually very orderly and everyone that I saw was nice and polite about it.  After all those people moved out, I went over to see what they had been waiting for.  I was able to score an HP printer/scanner for only $19, Mom got a DVD/Blue Ray player for $49, and a 4GB card for only $5.

P1030818 After that, we went over to Kohl’s to check out a few deals Mom was interested in.  We got there, and it wasn’t to horrible…that is until we went to get in line to pay.  This picture doesn’t really show how bad it was, but there were 2 lines that went from the front of the store to the very back of the store and then wrapped back  down the other side of the center aisle.  We got in the center aisle line and slowly moved our way to the back of the store.  When our line got to the back of the store, there were people that said we were in the wrong line and they had been waiting for 30 minutes and were not going to let us in!  We told them that we also had been waiting in line for 30 minutes and it’s not our fault that the store is unorganized and didn’t specify where lines were to form.  So, we were able to merge the 2 lines together by asking the people in line to do a “zipper effect” where someone from their line would go, then someone from our line, etc.  That worked pretty well except for some people who were just being rude.

P1030820 These ladies were behind us in line and were a kick in the pants!  They are best friends and we talked to them the whole time.  It made the hour that we made in line go by faster than usual.  The lady on the right even let us use her Kohl’s card, b/c Mom left hers at home on accident.  That got us an extra 15% off our purchase.  Plus, we earned $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 we spent.  Other people in line were telling us horror stories about how they had gone to other stores and saw people get trampled and a lady got in a fight and broke a nail b/c some guy tried to cut in front of her at another store.  So, I’m glad we had such a good first Black Friday experience.  We got home at 2:30 and fell asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow.

P1030821 I didn’t really get to sleep in very long today b/c Autumn still woke up at her usual time.  Mom & I got dressed and went over to the old house and had Nick meet us there.  He went up in the attic and handed stuff down to us and we put it in the back of the truck.  Then Mom & Nick took all that stuff over to the new house and I stayed at the old house and worked.  I worked for hours and hours and was frustrated that I didn’t have a lot to show for it.  I scrubbed the baseboards, wiped out my whole closet, wiped the blinds in my room and mopped the living room.  I consider myself to be a fairly clean person.  I don’t clean my house everyday, but I’m not a slob either.  I would give myself a B or B- on the cleaning scale.  However, after deep cleaning the old house today I have to downgrade myself to an F- .  It’s amazing how much dust and stuff collects over time.

Nick went to work & Mom came back and brought me some McDonald’s for lunch.  We kept cleaning for a while and then took another load to the new house and I got cleaned up while Mom went back to her house to relieve Lexie & Jon from watching the kids all day.  I’m so thankful that they took care of Autumn for me so I could focus on cleaning.

IMG_4641 Dad was outside working in the yard and the kids went out w/ him to “help” him.  Mom & I were getting dinner ready when Dad said to come outside and bring a camera.  He took us over to a big pile of leaves that was making giggling sounds.

IMG_4648 All of a sudden, two cute little kids jumped out from the leaves and started laughing uncontrollably and had a blast throwing the leaves in the air.

IMG_4651 Then they wanted Papa to cover them up again so they could do it all over again.

IMG_4657 This time, another little face was added to the pile of leaves.  We kept commenting about how surprised we were that Andrew let Papa cover him up and that Jackson wasn’t crying.  They were all just lying there like it was no big deal.

IMG_4660 Autumn’s hair was like a leaf & twig magnet.  I even found some twigs in her hair later that night when I gave her a bath.

IMG_4664 At 6:30, we went over to Liz’s house to have a reunion of sorts.  Chantal, who we both used to work with, was in town visiting and came over w/ her Mom & sister & sweet baby.  I love the Bedwell family b/c we know them from church & Bonnie used to work w/ my Mom in the Relief Society.

IMG_4665 It was a BLAST to see Chantal again.  I miss getting to interact w/ her & Liz on a daily basis.  Chantal was always the person I would vent to about crazy stuff at work and she could always make me laugh.  We have the same type of humor.

IMG_4671They didn’t get to stay for very long b/c they had to go to a family dinner.  But, I’m thankful for the small amount of time they carved out of their busy schedule to get together.  After they left, Autumn & Liz’s Mom made cookies together.  Autumn was so excited about it b/c Becky (Liz’s Mom) has been saying she wanted to make cookies w/ Autumn for a few weeks and tonight was finally the night.  They were pre-made oatmeal raisin cookies and were SO GOOD right out of the oven w/ a glass of milk.

We sat and talked for a while and then finally left at 8:30 so I could get Autumn home and into bed.  Usually Lexie & I put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving, but I was too tired from cleaning the house all day, so we’ll have to do that tomorrow.
