Rosy Posy, Hot Chocolate, & Mrs. Santa Claus

This morning Autumn woke up to find a special surprise that Santa had sent her.  It was her elf on the shelf.  (The traditional ones are not plush like this and are retro and ugly…if you ask me).  I am glad Santa sent her a plush girl elf.  Part of having an elf on the shelf is naming it.  She played around w/ a bunch of different names like Chippie (b/c that was the name of the elf on the video she watched yesterday), then Frosty.  But, she ended up deciding on Rosy Posy.  I like the name and it stuck.  She was so cute to Rosy & carried her around all day.  We watched some TV & then had our usual mac & cheese for lunch.  By this time, it was time to get ready for church.

Church today was good, and I have missed my kids since I didn’t get to see them last Sunday b/c of stake conference.  After church, we went over to Mom & Dad’s house for dinner.  Mom made steak & everything sandwiches since we didn’t have them yesterday.  We cleaned up the dishes and then relaxed for a while.  Autumn & I came home to watch Mrs. Santa Claus & have some hot chocolate.  I love the movie Mrs. Santa Claus b/c it reminds me of my childhood.  Autumn enjoyed it to b/c she snuggled up next to me on the couch and actually watched the whole thing, instead of going off to play w/ toys half way through the movie.

I actually love this movie a lot, b/c it has some great songs.  One of my favorite is Tavish Toys.  My favorite part is at 1:10 in the video clip, and when we were little we used to rewind that part over and over and laugh like crazy.  I’m glad that Autumn liked it and it’s a fun tradition that we can start and watch this movie together each Christmas.  I was looking online to see if I could find it in DVD instead of VHS, but it was $193.88!!!  That’s INSANE!  So, we’ll just keep enjoying it on VHS.

After that, it was time for Autumn to go to bed.  I have been making her sleep in her new room and she is doing pretty well.  She usually ends up in bed w/ me b/c she comes in sometime in the middle of the night and I’m a heavy sleeper, so I don’t notice until I wake up the next morning.  I got most of the kitchen stuff put away and will have another load to take to Goodwill next week.
