This morning Autumn & I got up and got dressed (instead of lounging around in our PJ’s like we usually do on Saturday morning) so that we could get going & get a lot accomplished. I went outside & put Christmas lights outside on the bushes. It was sunny but cold so Autumn stayed inside & watched Sleeping Beauty. I was getting so frustrated b/c the lights where all tangled up and I finally just had to sit down on the grass to spend an hour untangling them. Then, when I would get a strand untangled only half of it would light up! UGH! I finally got it all done and just in time, b/c Sis. Lee came over at 11:00 to talk about YWomen’s. She gave me a binder w/ lots of good info and the lesson manual. She gave me a brief overview of each girl and then we talked about some activities coming up. I am SUPER excited to serve in Young Women’s and was glad to hear we have a great group of girls.
After she left, Autumn & I went & dropped off some more boxes to Goodwill. It feels good to clear things out. I got the whole front room all cleaned out and organized & it looks great! After we dropped off the boxes we went over to Mom & Dad’s house so I could wrap the $1 store presents for the party tonight.
While we were there, Liz & Liberty called and said they wanted to stop by to drop off a housewarming gift & see the house. So, we came & met them at the house. I know this picture stinks b/c of the back light, but it’s the only one we got. They brought me a cool candle stand for the mantle & then some cake pops for Autumn. The best present for me was getting to hold & feed Baby Jacob his bottle, and visit w/ Liz & Liberty. I know I say this all the time, but they really are FABULOUS friends. It was nice to sit & talk & relax before the craziness ensued.
Autumn & I went to the store to buy Sprite & ginger ale for drinks, marshmallows & cereal for rice crispy treats, and then an impulse buy…The Help on DVD. I can’t believe that it came out on Tuesday and it took me until today to buy it. I LOVED that movie (although I liked the book so much better) and had planned to buy it when it came out on DVD. After that, we went and got our pizza & crazy bread for the party. On our way home, we saw these 3 hot air balloons & Autumn was so excited and kept saying that they were following us.
We got home and there were 3 boys that showed up and helped bring in the pizzas & presents. They sat & talked to me while I tried to make the rice crispy treats, which was you can see were not turning out well. My mixing bowl was too small and that’s why I had to use my hands to mix it. The party was supposed to start at 5:00, and no one else had showed up by 5:10 so I said too bad for sad for the other kids, b/c we were going to start. The 3 boys that were there were so excited b/c they each got their own dipping sauce. 2 more girls finally showed up around 5:30 and that was it! I was disappointed that out of a class of 12 kids only 5 came. But, we made the most of it and had a blast anyways. After the kids were full on pizza & crazy bread, we played our present game.
Each kid got a present & then I read “T’was The Night Before Christmas” and every time I said the word “and”, we passed our present one person to the right. Then every time I said the word “the”, we passed our present one person to the left. When we were finally done w/ the poem, we opened our presents one at a time and then the kids could steal a present from someone else before they opened their own if they wanted. Because we only had 5 kids, we had enough presents left over to play the present game again. One of the presents was these huge oversized purple scissors. I thought they might actually cut, but as you can see…they don’t.
We still had about 20 minutes before the party was over, so we all went upstairs to the game room & busted out the karaoke machine. The kids were loving it & singing at the top of their lungs and dancing around. Autumn thought it was the greatest thing ever to get to party w/ all the big kids. It was fun to get to interact w/ the kids outside of Primary. They are a great group and I’m glad I’ll still get to see them on Wednesdays at YMen/YWomens.
After they left, I had my own private party w/ my new Project Life. I hard ordered the Cobalt & Clementine core kit editions, and the website said they would be delivered on Monday. I was beyond giddy to see an amazon.com package on my doorstep when Autumn & I came home to meet Liz & Liberty here. But, I exercised total restraint and didn’t open the boxes until all the kids had left. Once I got out the papers and set them out on my table I decided to go with the Cobalt edition for 2012 b/c I love the bright & vibrant colors. The sayings on these journaling card boxes rang true to me: Live, Laugh, Love & Document!
Mom & Dad called and I told them to come over and watch The Help w/ me b/c Dad hadn’t seen it yet and wanted to b/c Mom & I had raved about it. It’s such a good movie & for sure one that’s going in my collection of favorites. Once the movie was over and they left to go home, it was getting late. I put Autumn to bed and then put on Steel Magnolias and put together all my pages in PLife for 2012. I am all set to go starting the first day of 2012, which is such a great feeling. At the end of 2011 I don’t have to feel behind or stressed, b/c I’m all caught up. I have a whole year of memories documented and done in a cute way.
Becky asks the people send in their “glamour shots” of their white boxes, and this is the one I sent in. I have to mention that…NO, I did NOT buy all of these at once. I have slowly gotten some here & some there as my budget has allowed. But I wanted a picture of them all together in one place. I like how the new core boxes have which edition they are on the side of them.
