Tonight Autumn & I participated in our first "National Night Out." I had never heard of it before, but it's basically to "promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live." Sorry this picture is blurry, but it was hard to get a clear one with people moving in the dusk lighting.
Their neighborhood does a chili cook off in conjuction w/ the National Night Out. I thought this was a BRILLIANT way to do a taste testing on how to vote for the best chili. Just put a little bit in each muffin tin and then you can try 1 or 2 bites instead of having to go back and refill your bowl each time you want to try a different one.
Everyone got to vote on which was their favorite chili. The chili that won was named "Chili Chili Bang Bang." LOL! My favorite was one that an Indian family brought that had curry in it. I'm not usually a curry fan, but it was GOOD!
This ADORABLE 85 year old lady was so happy to hold Spencer and kept saying how cute he was. She was so fun & fiesty, and I want to be like her when I'm older. It was a great evening, and the police chief even came to our block party to say hi!
Mom & Dad have been off on a "grand adventure" and sent us this picture today from Churchill Downs where the Kentucky Derby happens. I texted back and asked where Mom's fancy & over the top hat was? LOL! We miss them, but are glad they're off getting to see parts of the country they've never been to before.
