My Car Finally Died ... Thank Goodness

Well, today was interesting. I had just gotten my car back from the dealership yesterday. Today I went to go pick up some lunch & my car died in the middle lane at a stop sign. This time it was dead, dead, dead. There was no reviving it. But, that's a good thing b/c at least a check engine light came on this time so the dealership can figure out what's wrong and fix it.

I got Alisa out of the car and we went and stood on the sidewalk, b/c I didn't want someone to slam into the back of us (like happened with the Durango). 2 guys stopped to see if we were OK. I'm glad that Alisa & I got out of the car, b/c even though I was waving people to move, the car was almost hit a few times!!! I called Frank to come and get Alisa so I could wait with the car. I also called the non-emergency police number so they could have a cop car come block traffic so we could push the vehicle out of the way onto a side street. While we were waiting, a city meter vehicle pulled up behind my car, turned on his lights, put on a bright yellow vest, and went and stood in the road to get cars to move to a different lane.

The police car showed up and those 4 guys helped push the car out of the way onto a side street while I steered. I called the dealership and they gave me the number for the tow truck company again. I called and arranged for a tow truck. I was thinking it would just be 30 minutes like last time so I sat in the back of the trunk and watched shows on my phone.

I waited an hour for the tow truck, which is what they told me it would take to get to me. When the hour had come and gone, I called to get an update. The tow company said they had to go to 2 other cities before they got to me. WHAT!?!?! So, I had Frank come get me and I left the keys under the mat. They FINALLY went and got my car SIX hours after I had called them.

Thank goodness I was close to home. Thank goodness I had changed into clothes instead of going in jammies like I normally would have. Thank goodness Frank could come pick Alisa up so she didn't have to sit and wait for over an hour. Thank goodness he could come back and pick me up and take me to the dealership to get a loaner. Thank goodness for power train warranty coverage so I didn't have to pay for the tow truck. Lots and lots of tender mercies!

The guy at the dealership was so happy that my car had finally died for good. So was I. We were laughing about how weird of a thing that is to celebrate. But since this is now the FOURTH time I've had to take my car to the dealership, it's a good thing.

After I got the loaner car (a nice Chevy Equinox), I met Frank & Alisa at Costco. I made Frank ride around in one of the motorized carts b/c he's still supposed to take it easy from his back surgery. We were laughing that this was our hot Friday night date ... walking around Costco and leaving with stool softeners and laxatives. LOL!

The special love and bond that these 2 share completely melts my heart.

It's fun when the living room gets quiet and I look down to see Bitters laying on the floor reading a book. She's such a cute little bug.

Daddy put a baby doll in the back of her shirt like a papoose and she was running around having fun.

Frank took the boys and went to see a movie since he hasn't been able to do much with them while they're here on their fall break. I'm glad they were able to get away and do something fun.
