The 72 Oz Steak Challenge

Frank got up this morning & said he wanted to do something crazy. So, we went and got Autumn from her sleepover and hit the road towards Amarillo, which is a 5 1/2 hour drive. Alisa was a trooper for being in the car for so long. Autumn was a great helper w/ her and even made her this shade covering out of her sweatshirt.

He said he has wanted to try the 72 oz steak challenge at The Big Texan Steak Ranch for years and years.

He even got all dressed up like a cowboy for the occasion.

Alisa's face in this picture cracks me up. I guess crayons don't taste very good.

Here's the "before" picture of the food. Before you order it, they have you sign a contract. Then you get to cut into the steak and take one bite. If it's cooked to your liking, you initial on the contract that it is, and then you start.

You get one hour to finish a 72 oz steak, baked potato, salad, 3 fried shrimp, and a dinner roll. The waiter announces it really loud to the whole restaurant & everyone cheers for you. It was trippy how much our waiter looked like Grant!

Alisa was beyond exhausted b/c she only napped in the car for a little bit on the drive. So, I went out and sat in the car w/ her so she could cry and scream and not disturb everyone. She finally decided to be nice so we went back in to cheer Frank on. I posted on Facebook that they have a live stream where you can watch.

Frank gave it his best, but he wasn't able to finish in time. This was what was left. He said the hardest part of it was all the chewing & trying to swallow. He said his jaw was tired after chewing meat for 45 minutes. It was a once in a lifetime thing, and he's so glad he tried it even though he didn't finish.

Autumn & I had to get a picture in the big huge chair. It actually rocks, which was fun!

Even though he didn't finish he still got this t-shirt that says he tried it. It was a long drive home and we got home at 1:30 am.
