Since it's Halloween, I guess it's only fitting that I had some tricks and treats of my own. I decided to leave work about 10 minutes early since I've been getting in at least 9 hours a day. It's divine intervention that I did decide to leave uncharacteristically early. I went to get in my car and noticed my front driver side tire was flat as a pancake (no one did it on purpose, but that was my trick of the day). I know how to change a tire, but I was very lucky that there were still 2 guys left at work. I had them come out to help me. It's a good thing, too, b/c those lug nuts were on so tight that the 2 of them using all of their strength were barely able to loosen them. So having Tomas and Andres help me was my first treat. I could not have done that without them and would have been late picking up Autumn. Thanks guys!
They were finally able to get the spare put on and I rushed to day care to pick up Autumn. I went home and called Costco and they said their tire center is open until 8:30. WAHOO! So we drove down there and dropped off the car. I had Autumn dressed up in her Minnie Mouse outfit and everyone just oohed and ahhed about how stinkin cute she is. While we waited, we went and got a piece of pizza and a drink. This is where my 2nd treat comes in.
There was a girl tire tech named Audrey. And I can't say enough good things about her. She came and found Autumn and I, which is amazing b/c that is a huge store and we could have been anywhere. She let me know that the tire was not fixable and that they could order a new tire that would be there in 3 to 4 days for $75 or they could put a new one on for $100. I told her that I'm a single divorced mom and that I don't have a lot of extra $ but I have to be able to get to and from work and can't drive on the spare for 4 days. So I told her to go ahead and put on the $100 tire.
About 3 mintues later she came back and told me that I should actually go to Discount Tire. She had called a friend of her's there and let him know I would be coming in tomorrow and he could get me a tire for around $50. She gave me his name and number, wrote down directions on how to get there, helped me out to the car with Autumn and took my cart back for me. I almost burst into tears b/c of how nice she was. Talk about going WAY above and beyond. I was so touched that she was so understanding of my situation and willing to help me out.
So that was my one trick and two treats for Halloween. I went over to a few neighbor's houses to show off Autumn and how dang cute she was. We went over to see Uncle Curt and it is so cute to see how much he loves little Autumn Bottom. So my Halloween this year felt more like Christmas b/c of all the gifts and blessings I was given.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
