I am by no means trying to toot my horn, but today I definitely felt like the Goddess of Patience. Without going into too much detail, b/c I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, today my patience was tested to the limits.
I don't know if this person reads my blog, so I'll keep it general, but believe me when I say I was ready to leave early or send this person home early so I could get some work done. This person, let's say his name is John, would not stop talking today. John literally asked me over 100 questions that had nothing to do with work. Some of these questions were not even possible to answer, like, "What is my Dad thinking about me? Why won't my Dad call me back?" At first I tried to be really nice and understanding, but after about 30 minutes of this I finally had to just say, "I don't know. I'm not your Dad." John would go sit down and work for a minute and then come back over to my desk and talk some more. This happened about 40 times in a 5 hour time frame...I'm not kidding or exaggerating.
I wish that I was more loving and nice and willing to help John, but I finally reached my limit and had to tell John that I was swamped and needed to get back to work, which is true. John still just stood there by my desk and talked and said, "That's OK. Just ignore me while I talk." I was baffled that he would not just let it go and let me work. I really hope John can get the help he needs, b/c I can't help him anymore.
