I couldn't wait to get home from work today. I made these signs with Mom & Lexie and then we all loaded in the cars and headed to the airport to pick up Nate. He's been in Ventura, CA serving a mission for the past 2 years. I wish this had been what he saw when he walked into the baggage area, but we were 30 seconds too late! We got to the airport 10 minutes early, but his plane came in early! When does that ever happen? He was only waiting about 30 seconds when we came walking up, but I was SO SAD that he didn't get to see us waiting there with our signs and balloons. Oh, well. We're just excited to have him back.
He looked so good, and I am proud of myself that I didn't cry.
He's never met the babies, and they weren't sure what to think about him. We got his luggage, and headed over to Pres. Wright's house.
Pres. Wright released him as a missionary, and gave him some really great advice. It was neat to be there all together. Pres. Wright talked about how he might have a hard time adjusting back to normal life and to take it easy and just ease back into "real life". We got home around 11:00 and I had said we should go swimming since Nate hasn't been able to swim for the past 2 years. Well, Nate disappeared into his room and I thought maybe he went to get some pictures from his mission to show us. Boy, was I wrong...
...he came out wearing this and said he was ready to go swimming! We all DIED LAUGHING! So much for him having a hard time adjusting back to normal life. LOL! We went swimming and he was doing flips off the board like he'd been doing that everyday for the past 2 years, even though he hadn't. But, he did keep saying how weird it was to be swimming, to see us, to be home, etc.
I hope he knows how proud of him I am. It is HARD WORK to be a missionary, but he served an honorable mission. Like the poster that we made says...
2 years of knocking doors = worn out shoes
2 years of member meals = major weight gain
2 years of spending Mom & Dad's money = $9,600 plus
2 years of serving a full time, honorable, obedient, successful, happy, dedicated LDS mission in Ventura, CA = PRICELESS!
