Tonight after work, we headed over to Parker, TX (where the girl from the USA Gymnastics Olympic Team is from) for Chris Craft's wedding. It was held at the Swinging D Ranch. The name of the place and the fact that we had a hard time finding it on all the Farmer's Market roads should have been my first clue it was going to be a Cowboy Wedding.
I was worried when I heard it was going to be outside, but tonight was pleasantly comfortable. There was a nice breeze. Autumn enjoyed the party blowers on the chairs. Luckily, she doesn't know how to blow into them and make noise yet!
Here comes Pam, Chris' mom. She is awesome and just so much fun to be around. She helped me with my divorce. I think that's her brother walking her down the aisle. She looks so great in that dress.
Here's Nicole & Chris. Her dress was GORGEOUS! It had this deep green on the train, laced up the back, and around the front. All the groomsmen were in tuxes w/ cowboy hats, boots, and huge belt buckles. It was very nice.
Autumn also enjoyed the flower petals going up the aisle.
After the wedding, we went into an air conditioned building for dinner and dancing. They had baked beans, potatoes, ham, sausage, brisket, and an open bar. We just stuck to the lemonade. The food was super good. But, the best part of the whole thing was this INCREDIBLE armadillo cake! I immediately thought of the movie Steel Magnolias when I saw this. It's the best armadillo cake I've ever seen. The detail was impeccable!
Jon was cute and walked around w/ the babies, who just wanted to run around. They got restless after a while. Mom and Dad took Autumn home for me at 9:00 when they went to get Nick from work. I just HAD to stay until they cut the cake (I LOVE wedding cake).
Lex & I. I don't think we look at all like sisters, but I'm so grateful that we are!
Pam & Dave. She looks beautiful and he looks great in his suit, vest, bolo tie, and cowboy boots.
We took the armadillo head home to Nick for a present! It was a great wedding and party, and I am happy for Nicole & Chris!
One thing is that a close friend of mine was there who had just gotten her divorce finalized that day, and her ex was there also. She is so strong and courageous. I would have been a wreck if I had to be at a wedding right after getting divorced...I mean, I had a hard enough time just going to church for a month, let alone a wedding. But, I am happy for her, b/c I know this is what she has wanted for a long time. She was the happiest I've seen her in years. It was interesting that all types of relationships were present tonight...people who just got married, people who just got divorced, people who have been happily married for years, etc.

Yes, I am beyond sick over what Tara is going through. I feel at such a loss and I wish there was something more I could do. And ... an armadillo cake? I had no idea those things actually happened. Too bad the cake part wasn't red velvet!
Okay that really looks like Nick is kissing an armadillo. I can not believe how details and realistic that cake is.
Lisa, Thanks so much for your super sweet comment!! You are too nice! :D I think YOU are the amazing mom!! Love you, and keep your head up, "for behold good things await you.." D&C
TOTALLY Steel Magnolias! Awesome! We all missed you in Utah, it would have been so great if you were there too. Good thing you are such a busy blogger so I can keep up.
That cake is CRAAAAAZY!!! Omigosh! WOW...Yeah, I was also hoping that it was Red Velvet cake on the inside. :) Oh well.
