Happy Halloween 2008

I wasn’t going to dress up this year, but I wanted to wear my hair all frizzed out and crazy, so I fixed it that way and it just looked dumb, so I decided to make it a whole costume.  I decided to go as a Desperate Housewife (not like the ladies on the TV show, but just as an over-worked, under-paid, single mom…oh wait, that’s what I really am!)

I found this awesome mumu in Mom’s closet and even borrowed the hair curlers from her.  When I dropped Autumn off at daycare, the look that some of the parents gave me was priceless!  They were staring at me and you could tell they were wondering if I really looked like that to take my kid to daycare or if it was just a costume.  The lighting in mom’s bathroom was bad, so I didn’t realize until I got to work that instead of looking like I was a mom that wears too much make up with dark circles under her eyes, I looked like a battered wife, so I took some of the make up off after I saw how bad it looked.

I found a recipe for some awesome pumpkin bars on this blog, and I went home and made some last night, but I kind of forgot one important ingredient…the baking soda! So, instead of being all light and fluffy and cake-like, they were more like a pumpkin pie texture without the crust.  But, I thought they were great, and I might just make them without the baking soda again on purpose.  One of the technicians tried one and said I should call them my Pumpkin Pie Fudge Bars, b/c they were so good and had the texture of fudge.

Here’s L&L being all cute and adorable.  As you can tell, I was the only one that dressed up. Oh, well.

We closed the office at 4 today instead of 5, b/c it was so slow!  We had hardly any phone calls and were all done with most of our work by noon.  While heading out the door to go trick or treating with Autumn, I noticed this awesome leaf on one of our trees.  Isn’t this just the essence of fall?  I loved the amazing colors!

Trick or treating with Autumn was quite the experience.  We only got to 3 houses in our neighborhood b/c she had to stop and look at every rock and leaf and twig.  She was also obsessed with this dog that had a big white streak down it’s back to look like a skunk.  I thought that was really clever. I kept trying to get her to go to more houses, but she was insistent that she stay and play with that dog.

I finally go her to leave the dog when I told her we were going to go see Papa.  He wanted us to bring her out to the clinic so he could see her.  She sat on the floor in one of the rooms and looked at every piece of candy in her pumpkin bucket and put it on the floor and then looked at it again and put it back in the bucket then back on the floor, and on and on.  She had fun being wheeled around the clinic on the wheely chair with Papa.

All in all, it was a fun Halloween.  And it ended off with a fun treat of a picture…I got the milk out of the fridge to make Autumn a bah bah and I turned around and saw this…she had sat down on the bottom shelf of the fridge and was just having a grand old time!  What a kid!  She cracks me up.  I had to bribe her with candy to get her to move.  I guess she was just trying to cool down from wearing that Piglet costume out in 78 degree weather!
