Last night before I went to bed, I made a batch of snickerdoodle cookies for Don, b/c they are his favorites. I have had this little surprise planned for a few weeks, but made myself be patient and wait for today to surprise him. I was resourceful and used the box from the chocolates he got me to put the cookies in.
At lunch, Liz and I drove down to his apartment complex and set up a cute little scavenger hunt. First of all, we heart attacked his apartment windows. Then we put a note on his door that told him to go check in his mailbox.
In his mailbox, there was another note that told him to go to the picnic table up on the roof.
Under the picnic table was another note that said to go check behind the little bike statue in the courtyard.
Behind that figurine was another note that said to go check under his car.
We had heart attacked his car, too. We had to hide the bag of goodies behind the wheel of the passenger side of the car so no one would mess with it. I wanted it to be a complete surprise, but I was worried he might come home and try to drive somewhere w/out going to his apartment first, so I sent him a text telling him NOT to go to his car but to go straight to his front door. That way he wouldn’t run over the bag of goodies and ruin his car.
Liz and I had SO MUCH FUN putting all the notes around. Don’s neighbors kept looking at us kind of funny, but we didn’t care. I love doing fun stuff like this for other people. It makes me so happy.
He lives in a little bit of a scary part of town, and on our way back to the freeway, Liz and I got a fun surprise of our own. Walking across the street was a pair of real life pimps! They had the whole pimp walk, white tailored suits, pimp hats, a big red flower on their suit, and they were dressed to the 9’s. I tried to grab my camera really quick to get a picture, but we weren’t fast enough. If you zoom in on this picture you can see one of the guy’s white suits behind the blue pillar of the gas station.
But the adventure didn’t stop there. I figured that since we were downtown, we might as well make it really fun and try something crazy and new. We saw this sign for Mexican pizza, so we pulled in and parked. However, when we went up to the door there were bars on all of the windows and the door and even though there were about 4 open signs, the restaurant was NOT open. We were laughing so hard at this point that I was getting a headache.
Then when we were about to get on the freeway we saw this security cop that could barely ride his bicycle. By this point I had tears rolling down my cheeks from laughing so hard.
We stopped at Jack In The Box to get some lunch, b/c we saw a billboard sign for their teriyaki bowls. They used to have them a long time ago when I worked at Coomers Craft Mall right after graduating from high school. Eating this for lunch brought back a lot of good memories and it was just as tasty as I remembered it being.
While we were at work, Braulio came in and dropped off some balloons, roses, chocolates, and a beautiful plant for Alison b/c she didn’t work today but she works tomorrow and he wanted to surprise her. SO CUTE!
If the first half of the day was this exciting, I can’t wait for the second half of the day.
