Don came and picked me up at work at 5:00. We got to the American Airlines Center about 2 hours before the game. Thanks to Britt, we had a free parking pass and got an awesome spot. We decided to walk around to kill some time. There was this huge blow up Dallas Stars hockey player. A British couple asked us to take their picture, and then we had them take ours.
I’ve always wanted to visit Victory Park, but never had before. It was so cool to be down there finally. We saw where they film the news, and they were doing a live broadcast, which was neat. Those huge screens on the right hand side of the picture move back and forth along the side of the building. The energy in the air down there was just electric and fun and exciting.
We still had some time to kill, so we walked around to some cool little shops. The sunset was absolutely breathtaking!
After walking around for a while, we went inside and went to the buffet that was included w/ our tickets (THANK YOU, BRITT!) The food was OUT.OF.THIS.WORLD! I should have taken a picture of all the food they had, b/c it was amazing. I think my favorite was some hand carved smoked turkey breast and the bbq sauce that came w/ it.
Mom, Jeri, Britt, and Lori finally made it and were able to come sit w/ us. I was so excited for Aunt Jeri to get to experience the fun of a hockey game.
Finishing up our meal before the game starts. They had these little to go boxes that you could fill up w/ hotdogs, chips, and fruit so you can take it to your seat w/ you and they also give you a drink in a to go cup! What a great idea. I filled ours up w/ honeydew, cantaloupe, and pineapple. All of that fruit was so sweet and tender and scrumptious.
Isn’t this the BIGGEST piece of flat bread you’ve ever seen? They had these on one of the tables to dip in hummus and other toppings. I couldn’t help but get a picture, b/c it was so humungous.
Before we knew it, it was 7:30 and time for the game to start. It was exciting when they dimmed all the lights and then the players skated out onto the ice. Do you know how many times they say the word “star(s)” in the National Anthem? I do. It’s TWO times. The reason I know that is b/c when the lady sang the National Anthem everyone in the area YELLED “stars” when she sang that word. It was kind of cool.
Here’s the crew after the first period. The score at this point was zero to one. COME ON, STARS!
Britt, Lori, Mom, Jeri, Don
Don went and got a piece of cheesecake and some hot chocolate during one of the breaks between periods. It was so yummy!
The game ended well, and the Stars won 2 to 1. However, I was kind of sad that a good fight didn’t break out. :( LOL! Everyone had a great time and that was SO NICE of Britt to share his tickets w/ us.
After the game, Don drove me around different parts of Dallas and Highland Village. Some of the houses over there are literally mansions. It was crazy. Then we drove around the SMU campus and looked at all the cool old buildings. Then we stopped in at Chocolate Secrets and he got us some more truffles! We went back to his apartment and talked for a while and watched TV. I like it when we get to sit and talk and get to know more about each other.
Anyways, it was a FABULOUS day filled w/ surprises, good food, hockey, friends, and fun. I am a very blessed and lucky girl.

What a fun day! That bread looks an awful lot like Armenian bread. My grand parent's are Armenian and they have it all the time. I love when I can find it in the store, but that never happens.
