Sweetest Brother Ever

I just love my brother Nick, and I have a perfect example of why.  Don was supposed to come over tonight to watch the Superbowl, but he sent me a text while I was in church saying he couldn’t b/c he has a paper due tomorrow for one of his classes and he has to work on it.  I was majorly bummed out when I read that, but I understand and school stuff does need to come first.

So we got home from church and I was telling Nick how sad I was that Don wasn’t coming over.  Nick decided to text Robin, the girl he was dating for a while, to see if she had plans and wanted to come over since we had all this Superbowl food that just he and I weren’t going to be able to eat by ourselves.  She texted back that she couldn’t come over b/c she had to go pick up a friend from the airport.

So, Nick and I ate our dinner and were just watching a movie while waiting for the game to start.  I was also making some cookies.  All of a sudden we heard the back gate open and close, and we both got really excited thinking it might be Don or Robin.  It wasn’t…it was Jake (one of Curt’s kids) from across the street.  Nick said, “I was really hoping that was your Don that was coming over!”  I don’t know why, but I almost started crying at how sweet that was of Nick to think of my happiness before his own.  He easily could have said, “Oh, man!  I was hoping that was Robin coming through the gate,” but instead he said he wished it had been MY DON!  SO SWEET!
