Today when Dad got home from seminary he didn’t look his usual self. The lesson was on how our bodies are a temple and how it DOES matter what we do to them and what we put on them. Dad wore this hat w/ a pony tail of hair on it, a wife beater, a big old fake tattoo and nasty ripped up jeans. I remember when he did the same thing once when I was in Young Women’s and it was such a powerful lesson to me and I’ve remembered it ever since.
Anyways, Autumn wasn’t too sure what to think about Dad when she saw him. I LOVE the look on her face in this picture. She’s like, “Who in the heck are you, and what have you done to my Papa?” She was freaked out by his tattoo and was so unsure of what was going on. We were laughing so hard at how she reacted to how Dad looked.
Ever since Don took Liz & Liberty & I to Iron Cactus, Liz and I have been CRAVING the cilantro lime rice there. Today the craving took over and we decided to head downtown to get some rice. We of course had to get some queso also, b/c it is also really good. We had the same waiter today that waited on us last time, and he remembered us!
We got some really good food, but when it came to our plate we were like WHAT??? Look at Liz’s face!
The black beans looked like something else…
(This one’s for you, Chantal!)
I have never had so much fun at lunch before. We were laughing NON-STOP! Liz is so stinkin’ funny. We were oohing and ahhing so much about how great the rice was that a guy from the back came to see if we really liked the rice that much. He came to the table and said the guys in the kitchen were saying that we flew in all the way from New York just for the rice. Liz & I were like, “Um, if by flying in from New York you mean driving down from Richardson, then yeah, sure.” We were teasing him and asking him if he would put in a good word for us w/ the cooks in the back to see if they would share the recipe for the rice w/ us. He noticed our camera on the table and said he would take a picture of us. I started choking on my rice and was laughing so hard while he was taking this picture.
I’m sure the other people around us thought we were drunk b/c we were having so much fun and laughing so hard. There were these Southern business men sitting in the booth next to us. They had the thickest accents I’ve ever heard. Liz looked at one of them and kind of started singing and he just smiled and looked down. I was laughing so hard I started snorting and had to cover my face w/ my napkin and scoot down in my seat.
Anyways, as we were getting ready to leave one of the waiters came over and gave us this note! SWEET! “We got some rice, we got some rice, we got some rice, hey, hey, hey, hey!” (sung to the tune off of Little Rascals when Buckwheat sings he’s got a pickle)
We loved the rice so much we got 3 sides of it to go. We also asked for a container to take the queso home in. Our waiter brought us a little to go box and a bag to carry it in. Well, Liz decided that bag was for the chips. She picked up the whole basket of chips and put it in the bag! We were so sick to our stomachs from laughing so hard. I really like the front of that building behind her. I thought it looked really cool. Then we had to walk 3 blocks back to our car and we were both wearing flip flops and it was 36 degrees outside! Everyone walking past us was bundled up in coats and hats and gloves and kept giving us funny looks b/c we weren’t dressed for the warm weather not to mention we were still laughing like crazy.
I LOVE the mints at Iron Cactus. They’re a lime flavored one and are SOOO GOOD! I wish I would have grabbed a whole handful of them instead of just two of them. YUMMY!
Mom had made these Asian turkey salad wraps for dinner w/ crispy noodles. It was super yummy. What a fun day full of scrumptious food!
Autumn and Dad’s “thing” they have together is dates…not where they go out on a date, but where they sit together and EAT dates. Autumn LOVES them and you would think we were giving her candy instead of an old person’s fruit.
They actually are pretty tasty and are so sweet they do taste like candy. I ate a few and then decided to look at the nutrition content to see how much fiber was in them. I about choked when I saw that it was 120 calories for just 2 dates!!! Those 2 dates were NOT AT ALL worth 12 minutes on the elliptical. No more dates (the fruit, and I guess the other kind too…LOL) for me.
