Greatest Landlords EVER

IMG_9936 Sorry I’ve been slacking on the blog again, but moving in is a LOT more work that I thought it would be.  I guess that’s b/c I have so much CRAP!  I didn’t realize I was such a pack rat.  We pretty much got all moved in on Sunday night, and spent the night here for the first time Sunday night.  But, I’ve still got piles of clothes to put away, closets to organize, groceries to buy, etc.  So, this is just going to be a recap of the past few days.  Friday night Curt & Mary called and said to come over and try some fish Curt had caught while fishing in Louisiana.  Now I HATE fish of any kind, but I decided to be brave and try just a little tiny bite, and I was actually surprised b/c it was very tasty and not fishy at all.  I am so glad to have such great neighbors like them where we’re more like family.  We just walk in their house w/out knocking and they do the same w/ us.  This was a GORGEOUS hibiscus plant out on their front porch. I just had to take a picture of it and it’s so pretty it almost looks fake.

IMG_9940 Autumn & Dad are going to miss each other so much!  Dad got home from work and sat and did this Cinderella puzzle w/ Autumn.  Since we’ve moved into the house, he’s been over at the new house every morning to see Autumn after he teaches seminary.

IMG_9943 On Saturday Autumn & I went out to feed the baby goats, and they were GONE!  I started to freak out until I heard them “crying” over the hill in the back.  Autumn & I went over to see what was going on and Curt had come over and taken them to his house for Ashley to take pictures w/ them.  She was in her wedding dress and was having her bridal pictures taken.  Autumn was ENTRALLED w/ Ashley and thought she looked like a princess in her wedding dress.  Ashley had some awesome bridal pictures taken.  She did back flips on her trampoline, got some in her wedding dress and hockey skates & hockey stick, wearing purple high heels on the John Deere lawnmower, etc.  It was cool to be over there and watch, and of course she got a few kissing the baby goats.

It rained really heavily Saturday afternoon and wouldn’t you know that’s when Mom & Dad went to find a refrigerator for the house.  They got a great deal on one at Lowe’s and drove it home in the back of the truck in a torrential downpour.  I didn’t realize how much work goes into moving the door and handles of a fridge from one side to the other, but I learned soon enough when I helped Dad do that (luckily we were in the garage so we didn’t get soaked).

IMG_9953On Sunday we got up and went to church, and I was an emotional wreck.  Curt & Jessie came and sat w/ us and I got all choked up b/c I realized this is the last Sunday we’ll be in that ward, and Autumn won’t get to see Curt every Sunday.  I’m going to miss walking in and seeing Maggie saving part of the row she sits on for us.  It was also my last Sunday teaching my 4 year old class and even though they’ve been kind of crazy and rambunctious the past few weeks, I’m going to miss them, too.  We came home from church and went out and fed the baby goats and then I started throwing all my crap in my room into boxes and made about 5 trips over to the new house and just dumped everything in my room so we could sleep at the new house.

IMG_9956 Autumn is now sleeping in a big girl bed and she’s doing great.  I thought it would be too much CHANGE to be in the new house and try out a big girl bed, but she did NOT want to sleep in her crib, so she’s been in a normal size twin bed and has done great.  Monday we went over to Mom & Dad’s after work/daycare b/c we wanted to watch Dancing With the Stars (we don’t have cable at the new house) and then Tuesday we did the same thing b/c we wanted to watch Biggest Loser.  But tonight was the first night we came to the new house after work/daycare and we had this for dinner.  It is SO GOOD and is just $8 at Costco.  You just throw the bag in a pan, 1/2 cup of water and let it cook for 20 min.  That’s it and it’s AMAZING.  I highly recommend it.

IMG_9957 I also discovered a surprise in the pantry tonight.  The best landlords EVER had left us some cans of tuna, chicken, and mangoes!  Now what landlord moves in most of your stuff for you while you are at work, puts together your beds for you, stocks up your pantry, etc?  I am so grateful for my parents and can’t even begin to thank them for all that they have done for me & Autumn.

IMG_9962 Dad was going through Autumn withdrawals already, so he & Mom came over tonight to install a cabinet above the toilet in my bathroom, but mostly it was to see Autumn.  We went for  walk around the ponds behind our house.  It is such a nice neighborhood and I am so excited to get to know the neighbors and go on walks in the evenings.

IMG_9964 As you can tell from this picture, Autumn was loving it too, and look at that gorgeous sunset.  I don’t know why, but I’ve been feeling kind of blah and bummed out the past few days.  I think it might be that work is super stressful right now and I’ve been staying up late to unpack things.  But, I really do have every single reason in the world to be happy.  I live a very blessed life and I really am appreciative for all I’ve been given.  Not just temporally but also spiritually and emotionally.  Tonight while dinner was on the stove cooking I sat down on the couch and read a book w/ Autumn.  It’s the little moments like that that mean so much, to see her look up at me w/ a twinkle in her eyes as I did different funny voices for the characters in the book.  I hope all of you can find the little things in life that mean so much to be thankful for.

This is such a nice post! Your new house looks AWESOME and that park in your neighborhood is beautiful! I totally want to eat that Garlic Chicken right now...but I want to eat everything in sight now-a-days. Your parents seriously seem like such great people, I'm so glad you have such a supportive family.

Wow Lisa! How exciting you are finally moved in. That's so sweet that your dad comes over every morning to visit. Grandpas are such fun. I just wish Emily's lived closer!

I love hibiscus flowers, they always die on me though! And our family LOVES costco dried mangoes...the bag is gone so fast! Good luck with all that unpacking...it takes forever it seems...
