Since today was 9/9/09, we decided to celebrate by going to the dermatologist. Just kidding, I called yesterday to see if we could set up an appointment and they said to come in today! Talk about fast service. Anyways, we went in and sure enough, Autumn has eczema. She did a good job of not being scared and letting the doctor look at her “owies.” I had talked to her about it last night to get her ready for it so she wouldn’t be scared or wonder what was going on. And all morning she kept saying, “dowctor een owie.”
After the doctors we stopped at McDonald’s to grab some breakfast since we hadn’t had any yet and Autumn had done such a good job. That girl LOVES her orange juice b/c she drank that whole big cup of it! I am hoping these small changes will bring big changes for Autumn’s poor little skin. Here are the things the doctor recommended we do (just in case others of you out there have eczema or have children that have eczema):
- All Free & Clear laundry detergent
- no dryer sheets
- Dove Sensitive soaps
- Aveeno lotion
- The prescription she gave me was for Locoid Lipocream. She gave me a coupon for $30 off, and when I picked up the prescription I thought it was going to be really expensive, but it was FREE!!! WOO HOO!!! And this stuff is AMAZING…I gave Autumn’s daycare teacher the little sample tube that the doctor had given me and her teacher said it was already working when I picked her up from daycare today!

Sarah has eczema too and it's such a pain. Good luck keeping it under control! Sounds like you are off to a good start.
What I use for bathing my son is Method baby wash ( it smells like marshmellows). It is tear free which wat your dr. said isn't . Also, the method is dermatologist recommended.
Just a suggestion!
