Tonight when Autumn & I got home from work/school, we had a fun surprise. Grandma Ruth flew in to be here for a week to celebrate my birthday. We are so excited to have her here, especially Autumn. Once Autumn heard Grandma Ruth (we call her Rufio) had presents, she couldn’t help Rufio open her suitcase fast enough.
Rufio was worried that Autumn wouldn’t remember her from when we lived in Utah, but Autumn warmed right up to her off the bat and w/ Rufio while they read a book together. Autumn also got a cute little fuzzy magnet monkey and some candy and the best part was some dish towels (to cover up her babies) from Rufio. Grandma was so cute w/ Autumn and I love seeing the two of them together.
By the way, there’s a reason we call her Rufio. Her real name is Ruth, but one day Mom started calling her Ruthie. One of the other sisters got mad at Mom for calling her Ruthie b/c she thought it was disrespectful, but Mom didn’t mean it in a disrespectful way and the name Ruthie kind of stuck. Then one day we called her Rufio (like the punk kid on the movie Hook), and that name stuck, too. So, now we call her Rufio. It’s a term of endearment.
