Tonight on the way home from work, Dad called and said they were going to pick up Autumn from daycare and go to the store for a few groceries. Dad had a hankerin’ to use some rosemary from out in the garden to do some chicken shish kabobs. We cut up some bell peppers and onion and chicken and he threaded that onto the pieces of rosemary.
While he was grilling those, I walked around the yard w/ my camera to take some pictures of all the gorgeous flowers. Look at the awesome bokeh (blur in the background) that I was able to get in this picture.
I loved the contrast of the soft white and pink flowers against the stark blue sky. I like to pretend that it’s Japanese cherry blossoms eve thought it’s not.
There were these pink magnolias growing on a tree in the front yard. A few of them were barely open, so I moved a petal out of the way and saw this pretty star looking flower inside the other flower. So gorgeous. I LOVE nature so much.
After we ate our dinner, we were talking about how fun it will be to have Lex & Jon & Andrew & Nate all home for Easter. That reminded Dad that St. Patrick’s Day was over, so he wanted to go make the scary bat festive.
As you can see on the right side of the picture, he added a little pink glittery Easter egg. So now the scary bat is turning into our holiday scary bat. We’ve already planned out what to do for the months of May, June & July.
Autumn was talking to Dad and was asking him where his hair was and put both her hands on his head. She cracks me up and is always doing something that surprises me. Tonight before dinner she wanted to say the prayer on the food. I usually have to help her a little and she’ll repeat what I say. I said, “we’re thankful for Papa and Mimi,” and she repeated that and then said, “and please bless my Mama.” It surprised me b/c usually after I say Papa and Mimi she’ll say, “and Nick and Nate and Lexie to be happy and Jon and Andrew.” But tonight she blessed me and it truthfully brought a tear to my eye and was so touching b/c she said it so sweetly and sincerely. I am a lucky, lucky girl.
