This morning Autumn & I woke up and she helped me get our big Sunday dinner ready. She “helped” me to peel carrots and potatoes. We had two roasts, 2 bags of red potatoes, 2 bags of carrots, 3 big cans of cream of mushroom soup, and 2 packets of dry Lipton onion soup that we put in a big huge pot to cook for 3 hours while we were gone to church.
After church we headed straight out to Joann’s fabrics to wait for Aimee. She had called a few weeks ago and said she had some more clothes for Autumn & Andrew. Autumn & I got there about 40 minutes early and it was WAY TOO HOT to sit and wait in the car, so we went in the store and walked around (but don’t worry, we didn’t buy anything). I knew we would be hungry, so I brought a bag of pretzels that Autumn was chowing down on. I called Dad to see if he just happened to be out at the clinic by Joann’s and sure enough he was! So, we went over to the clinic to say hi and get a drink and a push up popsicle. Then we went back over to Joann’s and met up w/ Aimee & Jack & Emily. Aimee had BAGS and BAGS of clothes for us! She has literally saved Lex & I HUNDREDS of dollars by giving us her kids’ left over clothes, which are all in mint condition. I am so thankful for her!
We came home & went through all of the clothes (Autumn thought she had died and gone to Heaven w/ all the new clothes and shoes to try on). We ate our big yummy Sunday dinner w/ everyone and then Autumn & I left to go pick up Mou so he could spend tomorrow w/ us. We picked him up and he said his family wanted to say hi to us, so we went over to his Aunt’s house where they were eating and having a get together. I thought I had big family gatherings at my house…not even CLOSE to how many people were over at his Aunt’s house! Tongan people LOVE to eat and love to spend time together. It was so good to see his Mom & Dad & siblings again.
On the way back to my house, it started to rain out of nowhere. And there was a TON of rain. On the other side of the freeway there were two accidents that had the whole freeway shut down and people had to get off on the frontage road. Then, we were going around a tight curve in the road that had one lane going south (the one we were in) and one lane going north. All of a sudden about 3 car lengths in front of us, in the north bound lane, a big pick-up truck was going too fast around the curve and went up over the concrete curb that was separating the two lanes, came into our lane straight at us, skidded around and went off into the grass. If we had been 10 seconds ahead of where we were, we would have been hit head on. My heart was beating so fast and I almost started crying but Mou was there to calm me down and tell me it was all ok. It was SO SCARY! Why do people insist on being stupid drivers and not slow down when it rains? I am so thankful we weren't hit and that we made it home safe.
We got back to Mom & Dad’s and wanted to play some games (even though it was already 9:30 pm by this point). The kitchen table was still covered w/ stuff from all the remodeling so we tried to play dominoes on the floor, but that didn’t work so we cleared off the kitchen table (finally) and played dominoes until about 11:30 pm when we finally all called it a night b/c we were so tired. I am so excited about getting to spend all day tomorrow w/ family and remembering and honoring those who have given their lives for our freedoms.

Wow, that sounded scary! I'm so glad everyone is OK.
PS I love getting hand-me-downs! They have saved us so much money. I'm sort of spoiled because of them, actually, because I can't believe new clothes cost what they do. :)
