Walk Of Death

IMG_5498 This morning I got up at “oh dark hundred” (6:30 am) so I could get ready, wake up Autumn, take her to my parent’s house, and be to a training meeting in Dallas by 8:00 am.  It was a meeting for a potential job I am interested in, and the training was great.  It went from 8 am to 5 pm, but I had told them earlier I had to leave a noon, which was fine.  They had doughnuts for us for breakfast and then Jimmy John sandwiches for lunch.  I left the training and came over to Mom & Dad’s to see what Autumn Bottom was up to.  The house is still torn apart and there were workers there getting the floors prepped for tile.  This is what the hallway in the separate quarters looks like.

IMG_5499 They had already started the tile in Mom & Dad’s bathroom and this is what it looks like when they took a lunch break.  It’s a big mess and inconvenience right now, but when it’s all done it is going to be SOOOO nice!

IMG_5500 I needed to send some emails and some stuff on the internet, so I used Mom & Dad’s computer while Autumn watched movies.  She had set up this little bed for herself on top of the cedar chest and was just lounged on it like she was the Queen of Sheba!  What a kid.  She was starting to get tired, but refused to take a nap.  I tried taking her outside to see if she wanted to play but that didn’t work.  Then I tried to get her to lay down and take a nap, but that didn’t work either.  She started to get really mean and nasty so I gave her a warning and told her to shape up or we were going to go home.  She kept acting up, so I packed her and all of my stuff up and we went home.  She was kicking and screaming the whole way out to the car (I had to carry her over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes b/c she kept wiggling too much) and then I had to hold her ankle the whole way driving home b/c she kept trying to get out of her car seat.  We got home and she finally quit crying after about 20 minutes and she snuggled up next to me on the couch and we took a little nap.  I thought for sure she would sleep for 3 or 4 hours, but she only took a 30 min cat nap and was fine.

IMG_2598 I was tired of being cooped up inside all day, so we decided to go on a walk and get some fresh air.  Little did I know, this would turn out to be the walk of death!  We were walking/jogging around the duck ponds when Autumn stopped and pointed out two baby birds.  I went over to see and they were laying on the ground like this.  So sad!  Poor baby birds.  I wonder what happened to them?

IMG_2603 I told Autumn to not go near them b/c there were ants and other bugs on them, so we kept on walking.  Next thing I know, we saw this squished dead frog in the road!  EWW!  What’s w/ all the dead animals?

IMG_2604 We went around the duck pond twice and then we were getting sweaty heads b/c of all the humidity so we headed for home.  Autumn started walking down the sidewalk and put her hands on her hips and walked that way for a while.  Sometimes I wonder where on earth she gets this stuff from but then I realized that I put my hands on my hips all the time and that she was just copying me.

IMG_5504 As soon as we walked in the door, Mom called and said that she and Dad were going to come pick us up and we were all going to go to Chipotle for dinner.  Um, let me think about this…OK!  So Autumn & I put our shoes back on and hopped in the car.  I am so glad that Mom & Dad are still so in love after all these years.  I hope to one day have a good marriage like they do.

IMG_5509 Autumn wanted in on some of the fun and wanted her picture taken, so she came over and wrapped her arms around my neck and said, “Papa, take my picture.”  She can be such a little stinker sometimes and then other time she can be such a little love bug!

IMG_5507 After the first few pictures she started sticking out her tongue, so I decided to do it too just to be funny.  After we ate, they dropped us off at home and we spent the rest of the evening watching some TV & Autumn took a bath & then it was bedtime.  Why is it that Saturdays just seem to fly by?

That first photo of you and Autumn is too cute! It is adorable. How nice to be so close to your parents. I look at those photos of Autumn with your dad and it makes me sad that my kids can't have a relationship like that with their grandparents. But she is cute. I feel you on the tantrums. Really, just come over and we'll lock her and Jane in a room and find out what happens when they get like that.
