2 Bads + 3 Goods = A Busy But GREAT Day

Today was JAM PACKED! I got to work and rushed around getting things ready for a meeting we were having. Everyone had to give a 15 minute presentation, so I made copies of my handouts. The meeting was really good. At 1:00, we went to lunch at the Gyro place again, and it was just as amazing today as it was yesterday. I tried the baklava and it was SO DELECTABLE! The owner, Anton, came and sat w/ us once we got our food and was telling us his life story and brought over a big huge bowl of grapes for us to enjoy. He makes me laugh and smile and I can’t help but feel full of life and excitement when I’m around him. (1st good thing of the day).

I left work at 2:30 and went to the dentist to get my fake caps put over my two root canals (1st bad thing of the day). In a way, this time was worse than the first dentist meeting. The reason is that he had to do a lot of drilling and even though it didn’t hurt (thank goodness for anesthetics), I hate hearing the drill and feeling bits of my drilled off tooth on my lips or tongue. It’s such a surreal feeling to know that you would be screaming bloody murder if you knew what they were doing to you, but since you’re numb, you just lay there and hope it’s over soon. Having said all of that, I love the dentist I go to, but it’s still just weird.

Part way through the procedure, I had to go to the bathroom really bad so he got to a stopping point and I got up to go use the restroom. I went to stand up and was really shaky and felt weak, but was able to make it ok. It was so creepy to see the two little nubs of my teeth & my gums all red (I looked in the mirror when I was in the bathroom). I paid $1,250 today and had to go on a monthly payment plan to pay off the rest (2nd bad thing of the day). It’s times like this that I wish money grew on trees or that I was super wealthy. But, I am thankful that I’m not in a lot of pain this time around and that I live in a day and age where procedures like this can be done instead of in the olden days when they just had to rip out your teeth.

IMG_6722Anyways, after I got done at 4:15, I went and got Autumn Bottom from daycare and we stopped at the store to get some groceries that we were desperately needing (like bread, milk, cereal, etc). After that, we went home and put the groceries away and then went over to Mom & Dad’s to see what was going on over there. I had some of my amazing brown bread from Utah and just relaxed for a while. Then we went to Autumn’s last day of swim lessons. Today they had the kids wear clothes over their suits and jump in that way so if they ever fell in w/ clothes on they wouldn’t freak out and would still know how to get to the side of the pool.

IMG_6724 When it was her turn to go off the diving board, she started acting all prissy and had to have Mr. Steve get out and sit on the edge and help her up on the diving board.

IMG_6725 Then he had to hold her hand while she walked out to the end of the board. She’s such a little diva.

IMG_6726 She jumped in and then took a little turtle breath (that’s what Ms. Cis calls them) and then swam to the side of the pool.

IMG_6730 Ms. Cis hasn’t been there during the lessons at all this week, but she came out at the end of the lesson to see how the kids were doing. I asked if Autumn could get a picture w/ her and Ms. Cis said of course. Autumn wouldn’t look at the camera b/c she said her ear hurt (which is why she’s holding it). I love the little life preserver behind them in this picture that says, “Swimmers by Cis.” It was worth every penny of the $135! Autumn has improved a lot and since I watched through the fence and know what they did, I can keep working w/ Autumn on all she learned through the rest of the summer.

Also, we were able to get in w/ our kids for the 2nd 1/2 of class today. The kids got out and we took their wet clothes off (they had their swimsuits on under the clothes), and we got to practice some of the swim things w/ them. Three of the four Mom’s of the other kids wouldn’t get in b/c they didn’t want to be seen in their bathing suits, and the one that DID get in wore a bikini. But, I don’t care if I have rolls of fat where I shouldn’t (which I do), or if my thighs jiggle more than they should (which they do). I still got in and had a great time w/ Autumn. I’ve been really blessed w/ this innate ability to not be embarrassed to be seen in a bathing suit like a lot of women seem to be. The whole experience of Autumn’s first swimming lessons has been wonderful (2nd good thing of the day).

IMG_6732 After swim lessons, we rushed back to Mom & Dad’s and I got dressed and headed out to the baseball game (3rd good thing of the day). We had awesome seats between the dugout and home plate on the 11th row. There were 8 of us there (Dad, Lexie, Uncle Kerry, Uncle Robert, Aunt Tafta, Aunt Sandy, Nick, & I). We had special seats that came w/ a wrist bracelet where we could get as much free food as we wanted. So, I took full advantage of that and ate WAY more than I should have. I got a hamburger, hot dog, chicken breast, and two drinks (I was hungry).

IMG_6734 This was the best part of the night! They had some different mascots that travel around to different sports games. This fish was dressed in a Chicago Bulls basketball jersey that said “Mackerel Jordan” on the back. He came out and stood next to a ball boy that was talking to an umpire during a break and spit a ball out of his mouth next to the ball boy (BB). The BB threw the ball and the fish went and got it and brought it back. That happened a few times until the BB pretended to throw the ball really far but really kept the ball. The fish got mad and charged the BB and knocked him over.

IMG_6735 Then the fish did this to the BB…he picked the BB up and ate him! We were all laughing so hard b/c it was so unexpected and was so funny.

IMG_6736 We thought that was the end of the skit, b/c the fish started walking off the field, but the skit wasn’t over…it got even better. The fish stopped all of a sudden and spit the BB’s shoe out of his mouth. Then he spit out the BB’s helmet and then came the BB’s jersey. By this time we were all in fits of laughter.

IMG_6737 We thought that surely had to be the end of it, but they kept going, much to our delight! The fish started shaking and then bent over and spit out the BB!

IMG_6738 The BB was wearing boxer shorts w/ hearts on them and started running off the field w/ the fish chasing him. I was laughing so hard at this point that my stomach started to hurt. We all cheered and clapped. That was definitely THE BEST entertainment at any sporting event I have ever seen.

IMG_6739After stuffing ourselves w/ ball park food, we went to get some ice cream. We got in the elevator (which was NOT air conditioned) and I told Lexie & Nick to jump when we got to our floor. I think this picture turned out so cool!

IMG_6740 I asked Nick to take our picture w/ the ICE CREAM SUNDAES sign above our head, but he didn’t get the sign…he just got us (which is the most important party anyways).

IMG_6741 I got a scoop of vanilla w/ some hot fudge, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and then I went crazy w/ the maraschino cherries. I LOVE LOVE LOVE maraschino cherries!

IMG_6742 This is Scott, who is the liaison between the ballpark and Dad’s work. He got us the tickets and came down to check on us and see how we were doing and if we had gotten some food. He also brought all of us one of these cool baseball caps. This was the first time I had met him and he was really cool and laid back and was such a nice guy.

IMG_6743 During the 7th inning stretch, this mascot named Harry Canary led us in singing, “Take Me Out To The Ball Game.” We all stood up and sang at the top of our lungs and swayed back and forth. I LOVE the atmosphere at baseball games. After we sang, he started squirting silly string out of a button on his shirt and then turned around and shook his tail feathers at us.

IMG_6747 Dad’s work sign came up that says, “Hey kids, jump up and down if you like baseball.” Lexie decided she wanted to participate and ran down to the front row so I could get a picture of her jumping w/ the sign in the background. We had such a great time and I’m so glad I got to go. It was a super busy day, but it was also super wonderful!

IMG_3963 On another note, today is Tara & Michael’s anniversary. This is a picture of them when they came to visit in July of 2008. Not only is it their anniversary, it’s also Tara’s birthday. I miss her so much EVERY.SINGLE.DAY! I am so thankful for my testimony of eternal families and that I know I will be able to see Tara again. I am so thankful that Heavenly Father blessed me so much to send Tara into my life so that we could be best friends.

DSC03001 Also, it’s Mom & Dad’s ??? anniversary. There’s a lot to celebrate today. This is a picture of them in 2006 at the tree where Dad first proposed to Mom…so tender! I am also so thankful that Heavenly Father blessed me so much to send me to their family so that they could be my parents.
