Wild Weekend

IMG_6466 This morning I woke up at 8 when the dogs started barking to be let outside to go to the bathroom.  Then, Mou called to say he wanted to come spend the weekend w/ us after all (yesterday he said he couldn’t come).  So, Autumn & I drove over to pick him up and brought him to Mom & Dad’s house.  Mom had a fresh mango that needed to be eaten (I’m chewing on the pit of it).

IMG_6468 Mou & Autumn & I went over to Curt & Mary’s to borrow some movies to watch during the day b/c it was cloudy and rainy and we had planned on swimming all day.  On the way over, I was carrying Autumn on my back and went to go up a steep hill, but it was super muddy and I had on flip flops and started sliding down the hill and right into Mou!  Luckily, he caught me and didn’t slip down himself.  Anyways, we got the movies and went back home.  We were watching a movie when the phone rang and the caller ID said “Nathan Johnson”!  We freaked out and hurried and answered, and sure enough it was Nate calling us from Basic Training.  He said he could only talk for 5 minutes, so we put him on speaker phone so everyone could hear.  We asked him a ton of questions and he is doing well (even though his shoulder is hurting him a lot) and it was SO GOOD to hear his voice and talk to him.

IMG_6472 We finished our movie and then watched another one.  But, the kids were getting restless and were noisy, so I took them outside to swim.  After the movie was over everyone came outside and we had a BBQ w/ hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, chips, and watermelon.  We swam for a few hours and it was nice b/c it was cloudy so we didn’t get sunburnt.  Lexie & Jon left at 2:30 to go stay at a hotel where they spent their honeymoon to celebrate their 7th anniversary.  After swimming for a while, we went inside so the kids could take a nap.  However, they weren’t tired and still wanted to play (and eat chips as you can see in this pic).

IMG_6474Mou, however, was exhausted and took a good 4 hour long nap on the floor.  We had to keep telling Trace (Lexie’s dog) not to lick Mou, and had to keep telling the kids not to play and run around by him.

IMG_6476 The kids were getting restless (they should have been taking a nap according to our plans), so Dad took them outside to burn off some energy.  Andrew wanted to play football w/ Papa and the kids had a blast throwing the ball back and forth.

IMG_6480 It was so humid and muggy outside that they came back in after a little while.  The kids were so good and spent a good two hours just playing together and running around.  At one point they had both climbed behind the rocking chair and kept peeking out at us and then laughing hysterically.  I’m so glad they have each other to pal around with together.

IMG_6485 At 8:30, Mou suggested that we go see a movie.  So, I put Autumn to bed and then we went and picked up Nick and went to go see The Last Airbender (Nick & Mou chose it, not me).

IMG_2777I was not impressed at all.  It was just a bunch of kids standing there doing tai chi moves.  Even Nick & Mou, who love movies like this, said it wasn’t very good.  But, it was still fun to spend time together.  When we got home at 11:30, Mou said he wanted to go swimming.  So, we went to get in the pool, but the A/C had gone out in the house and Dad had the windows open in his room to get a breeze and said he wanted to sleep and didn’t want us to wake him up by being out in the pool.  So, we called Curt & Mary (I knew they were awake b/c the lights at their house were on when we drove home from the movie) to see if we could swim over there.  They said sure, so we went over.  It was so fun to be swimming at night and to see all the stars that were out.  We kept getting lots of june bugs in the pool but just splashed them away.

Dad called at 12:30 to say Autumn had woken up crying (so much for him being able to sleep) and to hurry home.  So, we came back over to Mom & Dad’s and I got Autumn and Nick and her and I went home to go to bed.
