Bad News

This morning I got some really bad news.  I took Autumn to a pediatric dentist so they could look at her front teeth that she hit on her knee really hard a few weeks ago.  Also, they needed to look at the major cavities she has in a few of her teeth.  We got there and it was very kid friendly and they had A Goofy Movie playing in the lobby.  We got called back and I explained to the lady what was going on.  She talked to Autumn and told Autumn if she was good when they took a picture (x-ray) of her teeth, then Autumn could pick a prize out of a little jar they had w/ different small toys in it.  Autumn found a pretty ring she wanted and off they went to get x-rays.  They came back about 1 minute later and the lady said Autumn wouldn’t cooperate and sit in the chair, so they’ll have to try later.

While the dentist was telling me this, I was trying not to burst into tears b/c of the horrible nightmare I had a while ago about Autumn dying while being put under for dental work.  As we were leaving, the nurse lady asked Autumn if she wanted to go pick out her ring but I said she couldn’t have one b/c she didn’t let them take a picture of her teeth and she hadn’t behaved.  I felt bad saying that b/c I didn’t want them to think I was a mean Mom, but I have to follow through on things I tell her.

I called my insurance when I got to work to see how much of the estimated $3,500 dental work they would cover and found out they don’t cover anything major b/c I have a 12 month waiting period.  So, it’s all going to be an out of pocket cost to me.  Great!  But, it’s one of those things that can’t wait so I booked the appointment for the only day in October when the anesthesiologist will be at their office, which is thankfully after I get back from Slovenija, and not while I am gone.  I’ll just have to say lots and lots of prayers that my nightmare does not come true.  Right now I have a calm and peaceful feeling that it won’t come true, so I hope that feeling remains as the date gets closer and closer.

After the dentist, we went through the McDonald’s drive thru b/c we didn’t have time to eat breakfast this morning.  Then I went and dropped Autumn off at daycare and went to work.  I spent most of my day at work reading The Rook on Mom’s kindle b/c it was slow.  After work Autumn & I went over to Mom & Dad’s and Mom had made grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner b/c that’s what sounded good to Dad since he’s been sick w/ the flu.  We just spent the evening relaxing and watched the premiere of the Biggest Loser.  There are a couple of girls on there that are already pretty and are going to be drop dead gorgeous when they lose weight.  I’m excited for this season.  My right foot was hurting me and I had to hobble around b/c this morning I tripped and stepped on one of Autumn’s piles of blankets and there was a plastic baby under the blankets and I stepped right on one and bruised my foot really bad.  Anyways, it was a nice evening despite the bad news I got this morning.
