Conference Weekend

IMG_8037 We stayed up so late last night that Autumn & I just slept in Nate’s old room instead of going home.  We got up and had some breakfast and then I went and got my nails done at 9:00 b/c they were super grown out.  I love getting my nails done!  I came home to find Autumn out in the backyard “helping” Dad trim some hedges and loading them into the back of the truck.  I thought it was funny that she was walking around w/ no pants on, but she didn’t seem to mind at all.  She insisted on carrying this small piece of a plant around w/ her b/c she thought it was so pretty and even wanted me to put it in her hair behind her ear.  What a kid.

IMG_8038 As we were going inside to get ready to listen to conference, I noticed this tree back by our wood pile and LOVED the bright orange color against the lime green leaves.  It was so fall-ish and October-y (yes, I know those aren’t real words but just work w/ me here).

IMG_8041 Pam & Dave had gone to pick up Colton, their grandbaby so he could spend the weekend w/ them and give the parents a little break.  He is so stinkin cute and looks exactly like Chris, his daddy.  I love those big blue eyes.

IMG_8044 B/c Autumn’s so little, she has a hard time paying attention to conference so she found other things to keep her busy.  She sat and brushed Pam’s hair and put it in elastics and kept saying, “You look so pretty!”  Pam was a good sport about it and let Autumn brush her hair as long as she wanted.

IMG_8045 Then after that, Autumn wanted a treat so Mom got out these mini Oreo cookies and Autumn climbed up on the arm of the chair and just lounged there like the Queen of Sheba while eating her cookies.  She has no idea how good she has it.

IMG_8047 The 3 sleeping chihuahuas and Dave.  Dave kept dozing off, so Pam would throw Colton’s (clean) diapers at Dave to wake him up.  It was funny to seem them all in a row asleep on the love seat.  Conference was really good and I can’t wait to get next month’s Ensign so I can highlight my favorite parts and write notes.

IMG_8050 I left to go get my hair done and told everyone I was going to leave my camera in case anything exciting or fun happened that they needed to get a picture of.  I came home from getting my hair done and this was on my camera from while I was gone.  Dave took it, and I think he did a great job.  Maybe he should take up photography instead of being a helicopter pilot.  LOL.

IMG_3178 I took my small point & click camera w/ me to my hair appointment.  I had her do some low lights in a reddish-brown and highlights in a subtle caramel color and we decided to add in a lighter blonde just for fun.  It looks white in this picture, but it wasn’t quite that bad.  But, as you can see in this picture, it was WAY lighter and she ended up having to put a toner on it to make it less brassy blonde.  Also, she did the colors in chunkier sections so now I have a big blonde streak right down the back of my hair.  I might have to darken that later or find a way to separate that out so it’s not so prominent.  Anyways, I was there for 4 hours, which is a long time but it only cost $45!  If I had gone to a salon, it would have been at least triple that b/c we did 3 colors and my hair is so long.  My favorite part was when she shampooed my hair and how good the conditioner smelled.

IMG_8052 I came home and the 2nd session of conference was already over (another reason I’m glad I can read it in the Ensign next month).  Autumn had been a good girl and watched movies while I was gone.  When I got home, she was ready to play.  Dad was watching the Texas vs. OU game but Autumn had other plans for him and asked me to put some music on my computer so she could dance.  She went over and asked Papa to dance and of course he couldn’t say no so she got him to twirl her around the living room.  Again, she has no idea how good she has it.

IMG_8054 It was time for the guys to leave and got to the Priesthood session.  Since the guys were going to leave, we put on our taped episode of this week’s Project Runway b/c we didn’t get to see it on Thursday.  Dave was the first one to be ready and came walking into the living room as if he were going down the runway and kept doing all these funny poses.  Then Nick came out and did some and then Dad.  They were trying to be all GQ and were cracking us up.

IMG_8057After Project Runway was over, Pam & Mom & I just sat and talked about different things.  One thing Pam asked us was if we thought Emma Smith was in ok standing before God.  Of course it was just our opinions, but we all agreed that Emma made some mistakes, but we all do and that she is one of the most courageous women that ever lived.  I don’t know how she endured all that she had to endure.  Pam had brought it up b/c she’s heard people say that Emma lost her way and wasn’t in good standing w/ God.  Then she asked us if we thought all the stories in the Bible were real events that happened or if some of them might just be parables.  It was an interesting discussion and I like being able to talk about things like that…things that make you stop and think and really consider what you think and believe.  The guys got home kind of late b/c they had stopped at Cheddar’s to get some dessert, which is a tradition Nick started w/ Dave a few years ago.  We asked them the same questions we had been discussing and then finally called it a night at 11:00 b/c we were all super tired.
