Sunday Session & Slicing Of A Forehead

IMG_8062Autumn & I spent the night at Mom & Dad’s again, so I told Nick to bring a change of clothes for Autumn when he came over to watch conference in the morning.  Since conference wasn’t until 11:00, Autumn wanted to go outside and play.  Dad took her out to the fort where they played on the swings and Autumn kept asking him to push her not just super high, but “scary high” which is the ultimate height she could think of.

IMG_8067 Dad had some sand to refill the sandbox, so they loaded that in the red wagon and Autumn got a ride.  I didn’t even know we had a red wagon, but I think every kid should have a ride in a red wagon at some time in their lives.  It’s just a part of childhood.

IMG_8072 They refilled the sand box and Autumn played in it for a while until it was time for conference to start.  Maggie & Nick & his girlfriend all came over to watch it w/ us.  It was fun to have a full house of friends and family to watch conference together.  It was a good session (even though I don’t remember a lot of it b/c I was busy helping Mom & Maggie get lunch ready).

IMG_8073 After conference, we had the most scrumptious lunch.  I didn’t get any pictures b/c I was so busy enjoying it.  We had this incredible salad that had various greens, nectarines, strawberries, candied walnuts, and a homemade poppy seed dressing.  It was heavenly.  Then, Maggie had made some crock pot beef stroganoff w/ mushrooms that was absolutely delectable.  Mom also made some rolls that just melted in your mouth.  It was so perfect outside that we all went outside to eat.  Pam said it was too cold in the shade, so she went and relaxed on the diving board after eating.

IMG_8075 After eating and getting that cleaned up, we all went to find a couch or chair or piece of floor to relax and take a little cat nap before the next session began.  However, that didn’t happen b/c Nick went outside to get something and yelled out in pain when he opened the door.  We asked him what happened and he said he had somehow ran into the door and hit his forehead.  We thought he was being silly and laughed but then noticed he had a gash in his forehead that was bleeding!  I love this picture of him b/c it looks like he’s doing the Napoleon Dynamite face!

IMG_8077 Of course, Dad was at work but we called him and he said there were some steri strips in his medical bag in the closet and to get those out and put them on.  Luckily Maggie is a nurse and was there to save the day.  She cleaned the wound and then applied the steri strips.  Autumn was all up in Nick’s face and wanted to be right in the middle of the action to see what was going on.

IMG_8082 There was some hydrogen peroxide sitting on the coffee table and Nick M asked what it was for.  I told him we use it to brighten whites instead of bleach b/c it won’t ruin other colored clothes.  Then I told him we use it to pour in our ears to clean them out.  He thought I was crazy, so I showed him how we do it and then he wanted to try it (that’s why our heads are on the table).  Mom got Nick in the back w/ his head wound and was laughing saying that the living room looked an infirmary!

IMG_8084 Nick was loving the attention and getting waited on hand and foot.  He had to get up and go to the bathroom and left his towel on the couch, so Autumn decided to try it out and see if she could get waited on hand and foot b/c that looked like a good gig!  She cracks me up b/c she is so observant and smart to put two and two together.

IMG_8087 We watched the second session of conference and then football after that was over.  Thompsons and Monzingos went home and we just relaxed.  Autumn wanted a smoothie and wanted to make sure Papa knew to make a pink one.  She always wants to pull her chair up to the counter so she can “help”.  But lately she’s been on this kick where she plugs her ears at any little sound, even when I shut my car door.  So she just had to plug her ears when Dad turned on the blender.  But I guess it’s worth the noise to her b/c she loves eating her smoothies and always makes sure to tell Papa that she wants her very own cup and doesn’t want to just have some of mine.  What a little bug.  It was a lovely weekend.
