Tonight after work/school, we mixed up our normal routine and came over to our house instead of going to Papa & Mimi’s. Mom brought over a huge pot of chicken & rice that we put in the oven and then Autumn & Dad & I went out to work. Dad edged our lawn (which needed it really badly b/c we even got a note from our HOA reminding us that it hadn’t been done in a while). He edged and then Autumn & I swept up the mess. She was such a good little helper!
Mom came out and told us dinner was done cooking and to stop what we were doing and come in and eat. We took our shoes off at the back door and I looked up and noticed this poor little gecko that had gotten his hand stuck in the door and was just hanging there. He must have been there a long time b/c he was all dried up! What a sad and horrible way to die, especially b/c I geckos are good and eat bugs. I wouldn’t have been sad if it had been a creepy spider though (I know they are good and eat bugs, too, but they are still creepy).
Dinner was super scrumptious and after we finished eating, it was back outside to finish up our work before it got dark. The lawn looks SO MUCH better and it’s nice to work together as a group b/c it’s more fun and like Mom always says, “Many hands make light work.”
After we got done outside, we went inside to tackle another project. We replaced my old dishwasher (which didn’t work very well) with Mom & Dad’s old one that they took out when they remodeled their kitchen. What usually would have taken an hour or so ended up taking 4 hours! The hose for the return water got pulled too far through a hole and was stuck in between the counters so it took about 30-45 minutes just to get that back out. Then the pipe for the water was too short and the electrical plug was the wrong one, so Dad had to go to Home Depot and get those new parts. It was quite the ordeal, but I helped Dad and we got it done. I asked him how he knows how to do all of these things and he said, “I don’t know. I guess just from watching my Dad do things like this.” So, since I watched MY Dad and helped him with it hopefully I will know how to change out a dishwasher someday if I ever need to!
After they left at 10:30, I stayed up until 2:30 reading a book on the kindle that I had started a few days ago. It’s in the Patrick Bower murder mystery series and was called The Knight and was really good. I hope I’m not too exhausted at work tomorrow!
