No Death At The Dentist

IMG_9002This morning we got up early so we could be to the dentist by 7:45.  Before we left, I had Autumn come kneel down by my bed w/ me so we could say a prayer and ask for Heavenly Father to watch over her and keep her safe.  I started saying the prayer and couldn’t even finish b/c I was so choked up and was crying too hard (that’s why my eyes are all red in this picture).  Anyways, we got to the dentist’s office and I was so thankful to find out that her anesthesiologist is a member of the church.

Before we started, I asked Dad to give her a blessing and he did and blessed her that everything would go well and then he also said in the prayer that I could have peace and comfort.  I am incredibly grateful for the power of the priesthood.  They gave her a shot in her arm of ketamine.  It was so strange to watch her slowly become paralyzed and out of it.  Her eyes started going back and forth really fast and then she just held completely still and stared straight ahead.  It weirded me out.  Ben (the anesthesiologist) took her from me and said he would take good care of her.

IMG_0104I had to leave and go to work b/c I didn’t want to ask for another day off right after I had been gone for a week.  I bawled the whole way to work b/c of the horrible nightmare I had that Autumn died during dental surgery, and that was way before I even knew she would have to have any surgery at all.  Anyways, I felt better knowing Mom & Dad were there with her.  Mom called about an hour later letting me know everything was over and Autumn had done great.  She said Autumn was still really out of it but was doing good.  I felt such relief!

IMG_3195 I know this is a super blurry picture, but it was the best one I could get of her new silver tooth.  She got one on the bottom and 2 on the top.  This is going to be an EXPENSIVE lesson to learn about not letting babies sleep with bottles at night!

Mom said that when they got home, Autumn still couldn’t walk on her own and had to be helped to the couch.  She was disoriented (you can see there is no sparkle in her eyes) and kept crying for me but came out of it when she saw someone had brought her a bright yellow smiley balloon.  It had some glow stick bracelets and this note attached to it.  It was from Sis. Wright (the stake president’s wife).  She had been over here yesterday to use Mom’s sewing machine and Mom had told her Autumn was having dental work done today.  I was SO TOUCHED that Sis. Wright would take time out of her super busy schedule to think of Autumn and bring that over!

IMG_3199 When I got home from work, Autumn was definitely feeling better and had come out of her delirium.  She still wasn’t 100%, but I was glad to see the sparkle back in her eyes.  Sis. Wright had also brought over a coloring book and Autumn wanted to color in it.  Yes, we had Papa John’s pizza for dinner as you can see from the box in the corner.

IMG_3200Autumn did such a GOOD JOB coloring this picture.  She had me color Snoopy and the pumpkin leaf, but she did everything else and I was so impressed with how well she stayed in the lines.  She’s growing up right before my very eyes.  This day could have had a VERY different ending, but I will be eternally grateful that I got to tuck her into bed tonight and sing a church song w/ her before she drifted off to sleep.
