Today as I was leaving work, Mom called and said that she and Dad were going to the movies. So, Autumn & I came to our house instead of going to theirs. We had pigs in a blanket w/ a side of veggies for dinner and then Autumn wanted to go feed the ducks b/c we had some old bread we needed to get rid of. We walked over to the duck ponds and this big beautiful bird was just hanging out at the edge of the pond near some boys that were fishing.
Autumn took some bread and went down near the water to feed the ducks. I had to keep telling her to rip the bread into small pieces. Once she had gone through her first few slices of bread, she came back to get more.
She is so stinkin’ smart b/c she took a whole handful of bread this time and just set the extra pieces on the ground next to her so she wouldn’t have to keep running up the hill to me to get more bread. If you’ll notice, there’s a lot of bread floating out on the water. For some reason, the ducks just weren’t interested in our bread. But, there were some turtles that liked it and would stick their heads out of the water to eat it. Autumn was so excited b/c she saw a school of little tiny fish swimming around in the moss at the edge of the pond.
We finished throwing our bread in the water to the ducks that didn’t want it and then came home so we could go to the store and get a few things. One of the things we needed was toilet paper and the kind I wanted was at the very back and I couldn’t reach it, even w/ my super long arms, so I put Autumn up on the shelf and had her get a pack for me.
After getting what we needed at WalMart, we went over to Target to get a few more things. It’s Teacher Appreciation this week and Autumn’s college sent out an email to the parents “suggesting” that we bring in flowers on Wednesday to give to the teachers. Well, I wasn’t about to spend my hard earned $ on flowers that die in 2 days and marked up higher than usual anyways b/c of Mother’s Day. So, Autumn & I went to the $1 Spot at Target and got some cute baskets and filled them w/ paper, pens, pencils, and the teacher’s favorite candy.
The $1 spot is so AWESOME and yet at the same time so evil. I could easily spend a small fortune there. In addition to the gifts for the teaches we also found some new sunglasses for Autumn, this adorable Surfer Girl sign (I splurged on that b/c it was $2.50), some telescoping sticks for roasting marshmallows, and a little Hello Kitty brush/mirror combo for me to have in my purse to get Autumn’s long hair under control while we’re out and about.
Mom called while we were out running errands and said they were done w/ the movie and to come over so Autumn could pick peas in the garden w/ Papa. We ended up watching The Biggest Loser, and I LOVE make over week. They all looked so good. After that, Autumn & I came home and I put her to bed and made some Scotcheroos b/c I had a hankerin’. I got the recipe from Mary Johnson and they were super scrumptious and hit the spot!
