We woke up this morning and had Texas waffles for breakfast. Then Lexie & I got cleaned up and had Nick watch the kids for us so we could run some errands. We went to Bath & Body works first b/c they’re having their semi-annual sale and I needed to get some more air fresheners for Nick’s room. I also had Lexie pick out some sprays for her birthday. After B&BW, we went to WalMart to get a few groceries and then came home. I noticed on my bill from B&BW that they had charged me full price for some plug ins, so I will have to return those b/c I am not going to pay full price. It was so much fun to spend some sister time w/ Lex.
Since the kids were good for Nick while we were gone, we took them outside to swim b/c they had been asking to swim all morning. We did Ollie North chicken, corn on the cob, pasta salad, and watermelon. Liz & Lib were going to come over, but Liberty had to work. Lexie’s baby bump has gotten a lot bigger since last time she was here and she’s so stinkin’ cute in her swimsuit.
These big beautiful orange flowers bloomed overnight near the garden and we kept calling them “Rapunzel flowers” b/c they look like the sun flower on Tangled. Maybe if I try singing to them I can become younger?
Andrew was really hesitant to get in the pool and was content to just play in the hot tub area. We put this little castle slide in the water and Autumn was brave enough to go down it.
Then Nicky Snicky wanted to try it. We swam for a few hours and then at 2:00 I left and came home and got cleaned up and went to the temple. They had a special single adult session where a member of the temple presidency spoke to us at 3:30 and then there was a 4:00 session. I really liked what the counselor in the temple presidency had to say to us. He read to us in D&C 109 which is the Kirtland temple dedication to remind us of the blessings that attending the temple can bring.
13) And that all people who shall enter upon the threshold of the Lord’s house may feel thy power…
22) And we ask thee, Holy Father, that thy servants may go forth from this house armed with thy power, and that thy name may be upon them, and thy glory be round about them, and thing angels have charge over them.
At this point he stopped and emphasized how incredible that is that we can have angles with us and he looked right at me. I almost started crying b/c I know there were angles protecting my Dad & I when the car accident happened. But, I held it together and listened intently as he then talked about how great it is that we can leave the temple armed with power. I am so thankful I was able to go and feel the Spirit there.
I rushed home so we could all go out to dinner since Jon had finished up his CEU classes and was home and we were all hungry. We wanted to go to In-N-Out so Lexie & Jon could try it for the first time ever, but we drove over there and the line was out the door so Jon decided we should go to Cheddars instead. We still had to wait a while to get our table and food, but the food there is always amazing so it was worth the wait.
The kids were good but got a little restless at the end of the meal (as you can see). We of course had to get a Cookie Monster to share.
Since both car seats were in my car, the kids came with me and we went to Target to get some cards from the $1 spot along w/ some chocolate chips that I am going to use in my lesson tomorrow. The kids wanted to sit in this car that had two seats and I would wind it back and forth down the aisle and we started singing a song about crazy drivers. They were laughing like crazy and having a grand old time. They wanted me to put the under this big pair of sunglasses and take their picture (I’ve trained them well).
We came home and made Steve’s chocolate chip cookies. The kids wanted to “help” me make the cookies. They were really good at cleaning off the batter for me, but I can’t blame them b/c that cookie dough is addictive.
Lex helped me put the cookies in a little baggie and tie some curling ribbon around them. The kids played so well together while we were working, but I finally had to pull Autumn away from playing and bring her home so we could go to sleep and be up early for church.
