Today at work Mom called and said they were coming down to my work to take me to lunch. I was all for that! I thought it was just going to be her and Nate, but Dad & Nick also came. I suggested the panini's at Market Street but since they don’t have a pasta bar, Mom said no. I knew of a little Greek restaurant that was nearby and had great gyros, so we went there. I think Mom’s going through menopause (even though she had a hysterectomy years ago) b/c she was having heat flashes. She got out this paper fan from China and the paper tore away from the metal part as soon as she started using it! So, she resorted to using the laminated menu sheet as her fan.
The food was good and my gyro reminded me of Kebapci’s so much it almost made me cry. Mom made Dad splurge and we got 3 desserts! We got crème brulee, baklava (b/c Nate had never tried it before) and my favorite was the middle one… baklava cheesecake! Talk about heaven and instant diabetes on a plate! It was so rich and creamy and decadent.
We kept saying how we felt like we were in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding, or the Grecian part of Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants (our waiter’s name was even Costas like the Greek guy in the movie) b/c of the fun Greek music they had playing in the background. I felt like getting up and dancing around the room and smashing plates on the floor. We even yelled “Opa” to each other a few times just for good measure.
Of course Nate had to find something that he could plank on. Look at that awesome form. It was so much fun to spend an hour at lunch w/ part of my family (we missed you Lex & Jon & Andrew & Autumn). We all genuinely love each other and get along and like being together. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family.
After work, I came home and helped Mom make dinner. Autumn had me take her flower out of her hair and I stuck it in Mom’s hair and she forgot it was in there, and I wasn’t about to remind her b/c it just matches Nate’s shirt so perfectly. We watched Project Runway and what is w/ all the guy Mormon designers? I thought it was a cool challenge that they had to make something from a bed sheet and whatever they were wearing. I was worried about that Ms. Universe girl and her sewing abilities, but she pulled it off pretty well.
It was 9:45 by the time Autumn & I finally left. I put her to bed and watched some TV and then called it a night myself.
