A few days ago, Papa had asked Autumn if she would wear her Mulan dress to church today b/c she looked so cute in it. As you can tell, she was more than happy to oblige.
We had to get our “we clean up pretty good” picture before heading out the door for church. In Sunday school my lesson was on the the widow of Nain’s son, Jarius’ daughter, and Lazarus all being raised from the dead. I had the kids split up into 3 groups and then come up and tell us about their story and who was involved and what happened. After we discussed all 3 stories, I asked the kids if everyone that has ever lived, even including some bad people like Hitler and Osama Bin Laden will be resurrected and most of them said no. So, it was a good teaching opportunity to let them know that every single person will be resurrected (see 1 Corinthians 15: 20-22), but then after we have perfected and resurrected bodies is when we will be judged according to our works and that’s when the wicked will be separated from the righteous.
Anyways, after church we came home and changed clothes and went over to Mom & Dad’s. We just had sandwiches for lunch and then Nick Monzingo came over to see Nate and the planking started. Nick had never planked before, so he and Nate had to come up w/ some good places. First plank was across the top of the Corvette.
Then Dad & Nate & Nick M. all planked on the neighbors’ mailboxes, but they were so spread out that I could only get a good pic of Nate & Dad. Plus, they said the bricks were hot from being in the sun all day, so to hurry up and take the picture.
Nate planked on the old wash tubs we have on the front porch. This one was actually a lot harder than it looks b/c they weren’t very steady and were on the verge of tipping over. Plus, the front one was right in Nate’s neck.
Nate did another extreme plank and climbed the tree on the side of the house and was planking in the limbs.
This one was also harder than it looks, b/c he’s planking on Autumn’s car seat and it wasn’t very big so he had to use a lot of ab and leg muscles to stay up.
Autumn had fun following us around while we took crazy planking pictures. I tried to get her to plank on this rock but she said she couldn’t b/c it was too hot. LOL! I wonder where she’s heard that before? She looked so cute in her pink cat shirt and pink tutu skirt and pink shoes.
Nick M even got to go for a ride in the Corvette b/c he’d never been before. We heard when they got out on the road and Dad hit the gas b/c it was that loud! Nick even got to drive the Corvette home. I’m so glad that Dad gets so much joy out of sharing his Corvette w/ others.
They left to go visit some friends, so the house was nice and quiet. Autumn & Papa played a game on the iPad and I worked on my blog while Mom read her kindle. Mom & I also made deviled eggs and took them over to the Berrett’s to thank Britt for helping Dad & Gary w/ some business stuff about the clinics. Britt was asleep, but we got to talk to Lori for a little bit and then came home.
Nate has this wig that he brought home, and he calls it the Donny Osmond wig, but I kind of think it looks like the Uncle Rico wig. We all tried it on and thought it was so funny. I think Nick M & Nate look the best in it (even though that still isn’t a good thing b/c the wig is so hideous).
This one is my ultimate favorite, though b/c Autumn was laughing so hard at how funny I looked w/ the wig and Nate’s sunglasses. Her mouth looks all shiny b/c she kept putting on her princess lip gloss and hasn’t learned how to keep it just on her lips instead of all over her mouth.
We had to go outside and check on the zipper spider b/c her abdomen and gotten huge and she’s turned white instead of yellow. We looked up online what that meant and discovered it means she’s about to lay her egg sac and then go off to die. We also read that the male spider is a lot smaller and is usually around for breeding. When we went out to check on the spider, we found the male one. He’s right above her on the back side of the web and really is A LOT smaller than her. Nature is so fascinating.
Autumn wanted to go out in the backyard and pick figs w/ Papa. I was telling Dad that I didn’t think the figs came on this early in the year, I thought they didn’t come on until August. Then I realized today is the last day of July and tomorrow IS August! Yikes! Where has this summer gone? I am glad Autumn likes figs as much as I do and that we have a fig tree. Too bad the birds and ants keep getting to the super juicy and ripe figs before we do.
For dinner, Mom & I worked together and made rouladen for dinner. It was incredibly scrumptious and it was hard to wait the 2 1/2 hours for it to cook, b/c we could smell it all throughout the house. But, it was definitely worth the wait. We wish Lexie & Jon & Andrew could have been here w/ us, but Lexie’s going to have Baby Jackson any day now so she has to stay near home.
Mom was having another “personal heat wave” and said sweat was just dripping down her back, so Dad being the loving husband that he is, went and got her the fan and turned it on hi and put it right in her face. So funny!
Autumn really wanted me to come watch her Barbie Fashion Tale movie w/ her, so we sat and watched that together. She was playing w/ her dolls while watching the movie and kept telling me to sing the songs for her, but I didn’t know them so she started singing and making up her own words. It’s so funny to hear her, b/c she can’t carry a tune in a bucket but she doesn’t let that stop her and just sings to her hearts’ content. It was a great Sunday and I’m sad the weekend is already over. It just goes by so fast!
Autumn & I finally came home and I put her to bed and should have gone to bed at 9:30 w/ her, but against my better judgment I stayed up and watched Hoarding: Buried Alive and then Drop Dead Diva, and didn’t go to bed until midnight. I know I’m going to be regretting that in the morning!
