Pizza Picnic At The Park

P1030127 The weather today was so gorgeous and perfect, that I decided we couldn’t waste it sitting inside.  So, after work I stopped and got a Little Caesar’s pizza (best deal ever) and went and got Autumn from “college”.  We went to a nearby park and spread out our blanket and sat and ate.  I asked her all about her day and we just talked for a while.

P1030130 She was showing me one of the yoga poses her teacher has them do.  She does a different one each day and this is the beginning of something called sleep turtle, I think.  I’m glad Autumn is so flexible and loves to be active and running around.  She’s a fast little runner, too.

P1030131 I don’t know what this one is called, but her facial expression makes me laugh.  While we were sitting and eating, Jocey & a friend just happened to be walking through the park and we invited them over to eat some pizza and talk.  Autumn ran off to play and I kind of felt like a bad Mom b/c she would yell to me from the top of the slides and I would wave to her, but there were some cute and skinny Moms sitting by the slides that gave me dirty looks b/c I was kind of far away and wasn’t up running around w/ her.  In my defense, I was wearing a skirt and it was a windy day and I was also wearing flip flops, which aren’t very conducive for running around a playground with wood chips.  Plus, I was talking to Jocey and her friend but made sure to keep an eye on Autumn.  Oh, well…who cares what they think.

I was finally able to pry Autumn away from the park and we went home and cleaned up the house a little bit.  I’m saving my heavy duty cleaning for Friday night so everything will be spic-n-span for the brunch on Saturday.  We just relaxed and she wanted to color for a little while and then it was time for bed.  Her teacher says that Autumn really loves Art and always wants to go to that center during free time.  She is always carrying around at least 2 or 3 pictures and gets really upset if we forget them at Mom & Dad’s or if she forgets to bring them home.  I’m so happy that she likes coloring and drawing.  Now I just need to work with her on writing her letters and numbers so she can be ready for Kindergarten next year.

Also, I was thinking today about making memories.  I always wonder if she’ll remember things like the pizza picnic at the park today when she is older, or if she’s still to young to have permanent memories.  I don’t remember things before I was 4.  I guess that’s why I’m so “psycho” (to quote my family) about taking pictures and documenting life.  I want her to be able to look back and remember how great her childhood was.  I know I look back at my photo albums from when I was a kid and love reliving those little things that I might have otherwise forgotten.  I had the best childhood ever and try to make sure Autumn’s is just as good.
