Today at work I was really busy with putting orders together and getting them submitted. It was nice to have a lot to do, and to get a lot accomplished. I was supposed to go visiting teaching tomorrow night b/c that’s the night one of the girls I teach has off of work. But, she sent me an email asking if I could come tonight. I had told Christine I would come work for her again tonight, but she said that would be ok if I went visiting teaching first. So, as soon as 5:00 hit, I was out the door and on my way. I picked up Autumn, we stopped by our house to get the handout and treat, and we went visiting teaching. I joked that Autumn is my new visiting teaching partner, b/c I couldn’t get a hold of my new VT partner. I’m so sad Karri isn’t my VT partner anymore. Anyways, it was just a quick 5 minute visit, but I’m glad I got to see Laura. I got this print off HERE and tied the cookies in my saying that if we as Mom’s don’t stay in tune to the Spirit, it takes a “TOLL on the HOUSE.” Get it? Tollhouse! LOL.
My favorite quote was this, “The ability to qualify for, receive, and act on personal revelation is the single most important skill that can be acquired in this life.” ~Julie B. Beck
I love it so much b/c in the church it’s sometimes hard to know what to focus on. We’re told that basically EVERYTHING is important: scripture reading, Family Home Evening, temple attendance, prayer, Word of Wisdom, etc. And it’s true, all of those things are really important. But I agree with Sis. Beck that having the Spirit with us at all times so we can receive personal revelation is the most important skill. If we have the Spirit with us at all times, and in all things and in all places, we have a direct connection to Heavenly Father and His plan for each of us.
I don’t know why this came to mind, but think how important it was for Moses’ mother to have the Spirit with her. No mother would put her beloved child in a basket and send them down a raging river. But, b/c she had the Spirit, that was what she was prompted to do and was able to save her son by following the personal revelation. What is something I need to do, might not be what would be good for someone else. But there is safety and strength in having that personal revelation to direct me in my life.
Anyways, after we left we rushed to Mom & Dad’s house b/c Mom had dinner for us. She is so good to us! We ate dinner w/ Mom & Dad and then had to run. On the way out to the car, I noticed that that the grass was all torn up right here. I asked Dad what happened and he said it was armadillos digging up the grass looking for grubs! I had no idea that armadillos could do so much damage.
Autumn was excited to go to Christine’s to play w/ the kids again. I worked for her for 2 hours and then it was time to get Autumn home. We stopped by WalMart really quick so I could grab a few things to make easy truffles. I had a hanerkin’ to make them, so I did. Also one of the guys at work brought in some home made chicken soup that his wife had made to share w/ the office. So, I also made some to take in to share w/ the office tomorrow. I was so tired, but I stayed up until 12:30 watching Whose Line and doing laundry.
