Autumn & I had a leisurely morning of sleeping in and playing w/ some of her new Christmas toys. Then we got cleaned up and went over to Mom & Dad’s house. I had an appt to get my nails done at 11:00 b/c they are so grown out and need a fill. Lexie made an appt to get a mani/pedi at the same time so we could have some sister time. My Christmas gift to her was some money to use on some new clothes. She wanted me to go shopping w/ her ever since they got cable and she started watching What Not To Wear. I have no idea why, b/c I am pretty much the opposite of a fashionista, but I am glad she wanted to spend time w/ me.
Here we are after getting our nails done. When I was editing pictures at the end of the day on my computer she was sitting next to me and we started playing around w/ Piknik and added these just for fun.
After our nails, we went to Ross to see what we could find. I like shopping there b/c they usually have cheap but nice clothes and we were on a pretty small budget. Everything was pretty picked over, but we found 20 different things for Lexie to try on. She would try them on and then I would hang them up for her to save time. Everything looked so cute on her b/c she has the perfect figure. This was one of my favorites, but she didn’t get it b/c it was too much money plus it was too short when she sat down. We had such a good time talking and laughing. She ended up getting a few cute shirts and a belt. After that, we stopped by the grocery store to get a few things Mom needed and then hurried home to relieve Mom & Rufio from watching the kids.
I helped Mom make fried rice, egg rolls, and sweet & sour sauce for dinner. Lexie had given Autumn a Barbie doll where you can change the color of the doll’s nails by “painting” them w/ either hot or cold water. The Barbie also came w/ 2 sets of press on nails. So, Lexie & Autumn decided to have a pretty party. Lexie put Autumn’s hair in hot curlers and put nails on her as well.
B/c Autumn’s hair is so long and straight, it doesn’t hold curl very well for very long. But, right after Lexie took the curlers out, Autumn’s hair was in big, gorgeous, perfect ringlets. She looked like Shirley Temple.
All that was left was eye makeup and lipstick. They were having a blast.
“Mirror, mirror on the wall…who’s the fairest little girl of all?”
“Mirror, mirror on the wall…who’s the fairest little girl of all?”
It makes me happy that Autumn loves to be a girly girl and that Aunt Lexie is willing to go to all the fuss to make her look fancy. Autumn insisted on wearing this cute flapper looking dress that was covered in sparkly disks to complete the whole ensemble. We kept telling Autumn she should be on Toddlers & Tiaras b/c she’s so naturally pretty.
It was such a fun way to spend the day after Christmas. After dinner we played w/ the kids and their new toys and sat and talked and enjoyed being together. It’s always nice to have some quiet and relaxing time after such a highly anticipated and fun Christmas.
