New Obsession…Downton Abbey

IMG_0029 Today at work, the accountant lady that comes in on Wed & Friday asked what I was going for lunch.  I was going to go to Market Street since I hadn’t been yet this week.  But, we ended up going to Nico’s Cantina and it was SO GOOD!  I had been craving Mexican food for a few weeks and this hit the spot.

IMG_0030 After work/school, we went over to Mom & Dad’s house and Dad had made grilled cheese sandwiches since Mom is in Austin to babysit Andrew & Jackson for the weekend while Lexie & Jon go on a stay-cation as part of Jon’s Christmas present to Lexie.  After dinner Dad got called into the clinic and I decided to look into this show called “Downton Abbey” that I had read about on a bunch of blogs.  I found an episode of it on pbs.com and watched part of the first episode of Season 2.  I was hooked instantly and knew I needed to see Season 1 before I went any further.  So, after a little internet investigating I found they had it at Target.

Autumn and I jumped in the car and went to Target.  As you can see, I ended up w/ more than just Downton Abbey.  Why does that always happen?  I need a new squegee for the shower and it was only $1.  Then the potted flower was on clearance for only $1.49.  Autumn is in desperate need of some new socks, so I got her a 10 pack.  The candy was just $1 b/c I told Autumn if she was good she could pick one thing from the $1 Spot and that’s what she picked.  Then when I was looking for Downton Abbey, I saw “Becoming Jane” for only $5.  So, that’s my rationalization behind it all.

P1040381We got out to the car and Autumn was so excited to pen her Warheads candy.  I warned her that they would be sour before I bought them, but she didn’t care and still wanted them.

P1040383I knew I had to have my camera ready when she took her first bite, and I wasn’t disappointed.  This is an awesome “sour face”.  I tried one and was surprised that they weren’t nearly as sour as I thought they would be.

By the time we got home, it was already 9:30, so I put Autumn to bed and cozied up on the couch w/ a mug of hot chocolate and started watching Downton Abbey.  I can’t even begin to describe how good it is.  It’s like all my favorite Jane Austen movies but on steroids b/c each episode is about an hour and it’s just so amazing.  I am definitely hooked.  I didn’t make it through all 7 episodes b/c it was already 2:30 am by the time I got done w/ episode 5 so I made myself call it a night and will watch the next episodes tomorrow.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the shows so far:

“We all have different parts to play, Matthew.  And we must all be allowed to play them.”

“You’re always dozy, but tonight you make Sleeping Beauty look alert.”
~Mrs. Patmore to Daisy

“You’ve changed your hair.”
”I was trying out Lady Mary’s  new curling iron.  What do you think?”
”I think I would love you however and whatever, whenever… I know you Anna Smith and I love you and that’s not the right path for you.”
~Conversation between Anna & Mr. Bates

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Mr. Bates!
