Autumn’s Fancy Nancy Day

P1060105 Autumn & I woke up this morning at 7:30 and she asked if we could have pancakes for breakfast.  I made pink pancakes and added some fresh strawberries b/c they needed to be used up.

P1060110 After I made them and told her it was time to eat, she asked if we could eat breakfast in bed.  We haven’t done that in a long time so I said sure.  We put on Downton Abbey and enjoyed our fancy breakfast.  We even ate w/ our pinkies up in the air and spoke in British accents.

IMG_0196 I got cleaned up so I could go to my nail appointment b/c they were so long and grown out.  I was going to take Autumn over to Papa & Mimi’s so Nick could watch her for me, but she said she wanted to go w/ me and have a Girl’s Day.  I made her promise that she would be on her best behavior.  We got to the nail place and she was a super good girl.  While I was getting my nails done, they asked her if she wanted hers painted.  Her face lit up like a Christmas tree.  She got to go and pick out whatever color she wanted.  I wasn’t surprised when she picked hot pink.

IMG_0199 It did my heart so much good to see the joy on her face.  She just thought she was the fanciest little girl around and was so good to hold still while she got her nails painted and then to let them dry.  They all fussed over her and how long and pretty her hair is.  I am so happy that she got to feel so special.

P1060122After our nails, we went next door to the kid’s consignment store to see if they had anything we couldn’t live w/out.  We found these cute shoes for just $3.00.  Autumn loved them so much that she put them on as soon as we paid for them.  We were both hungry so we went to get our favorite pasta dish for lunch.  She was so excited when we got to ride in the elevator up to the top floor to eat and she got to push the buttons.

P1060120 I was thankful when we finally got our food and sat down.  I was feeling really weak and shaky and it scared me.  I was afraid I was going to pass out, but luckily I didn’t.  While we were sitting and eating, 4 different ladies commented on Autumn’s dress and pretty long hair.  After we ate, Autumn said she just wanted to sit and snuggle for a minute.  She climbed onto my lap and we just hugged and rocked back and forth like we used to do when she was a baby.  It made me so happy and I could have stayed like that for hours on end.

P1060125 But, we had things we needed to do.  We went to WalMart to get some groceries for our party tonight.  She wanted me to get a picture of our pretty nails together.  We got what we needed, plus a few extras like a cord to plug my iPhone into the audio on the car so we can pump up the volume on our favorites and jam out in the car.  That was worth the $6 b/c we were full on car dancing and singing at the top of our lungs the whole way back to Mom & Dad’s.

IMG_0201I made a white cake so it could cool for me to make tres leche for dessert.  Then I made a 1/2 batch of Steve’s Out Of This World cookies for my Young Women’s lesson tomorrow.  I was tired, so I took a little nap and it was so nice.  Liz & Liberty & Jacob came over at 5:30 for a party.  We had invited all our pest control peeps, but none of them could come.  But, we still had fun w/ just us.  We did make-your-own-mini-pizzas for dinner.  Then Jacob was being fussy so Liberty took him on a walk and Autumn wanted to go along and ride her bike.  It was nice for Liz & I to stick our feet in the pool and just sit and talk.  When they got back from their walk, we had our tres leche dessert and it worked so much better w/ just 1 cup of cream instead of 2.

I love these guys so much and am incredibly thankful to have them in my life.  They left at 7:30 b/c they had some errands to run.  I printed off some handouts and cut them out for my lesson tomorrow.  Then Autumn wanted to watch Hunchback of Notre Dame so I put that on and we snuggled on Mom & Dad’s bed.  By this time it was 9:30 and we needed to do up the dishes and clean the living room since Mom & Dad are coming home tomorrow morning.  Autumn had a minor melt down b/c she was so tired and just couldn’t be brought to clean up the huge mess she had made w/ toys.  But, I didn’t give in and made her clean it up while I did the dishes.

We came home and I put her to bed and then stayed up and edited pictures, blogged, and watched The Holiday w/ Queen Latifah.  I love that movie, b/c I am a lot her character in the movie.  I were her…on vacation in a beautiful place (that looks like Slovenija) w/ a hot guy (like LL Cool J) wanting to date me.  One of my favorite lines from the movie is, “we know the secret to life…butter!”

I’ve been feeling kind of sorry for myself the past few days b/c I started emailing a 6’5” Polynesian guy 2 weeks ago.  He was funny and smart and charming and witty, and we were hitting it off.  We even talked on the phone a few times.  Then, the calls and emails stopped this week, and it was just a text from him here and there.  That’s one of the worst things about being divorced…having to try and date again and dealing w/ rejection.  I just have to keep telling myself that Heavenly Father must have someone INCREDIBLE in store for me.  I would for sure take an LDS version of LL Cool J or The Rock.  LOL!
