I signed up for Pinterest a few weeks ago and I found something awesome from How To Next For Less that I knew I wanted to do for Mom’s birthday. I used this case from Best Buy, which was less than $25. It’s not as sturdy as other cases I’ve used, and that was disappointing. Also, I would suggest getting one w/ black rubber instead of white just so it won’t show dirt as much.
I printed off some pictures at home on photo paper and then just made up a template out of cardstock. I printed the pics as 3.5x5 and had to cut them down from there. I used tiny scissors for the camera hole, and it looks kind of ghetto if you look close. I think an exact-o knife would have been better but I didn’t have one.
Nate thought it was an awesome idea and got one for himself. He wanted this one of Mom’s high school graduation picture. This is probably my favorite picture of her. She’s so gorgeous.
He also wanted this black & white one (it looks like sepia b/c of the horrible lighting I had to use when taking these pics) of when Mom & Dad were dating. Dad looks so handsome and Mom is so pretty.
Anyways, Mom & Dad & Nick & Nate went and saw Brave this morning and liked it. Mom said that she wanted to have Texas Roadhouse for her birthday dinner, but she didn’t want to go out b/c she & Dad were busy packing for their 2 week trip tomorrow. So, Nate called in the order and went and picked it up. The ribs were so good that they meat literally fell off the bone when I picked it up. Mom was so happy w/ her birthday dinner. I feel bad we didn’t have a dessert for her, but she can’t have cake or cookies, or even fruit. She can have sugar free jell-o, but didn’t want that. She’s been so good about sticking to her diabetes diet.
Pam had called earlier in the week to see if I could watch Colton, her grandson, while she & Dave & Colton’s parents went to the Ranger’s game. She’s helped me out w/ legal stuff and didn’t charge me, so I was glad to do it. I met Chris at WalMart after work so I could get Colton and his things. Autumn was SO CUTE and attentive and nurturing w/ Colton. He was such a good kid and barely made a peep the whole night. He wanted to go outside, so we did and Autumn put on her helmet and was riding her bike around. When she was done, he wanted a turn. So we found him a helmet and he wanted to “ride” the bike too.
We didn’t stay out there for very long b/c it was so humid and I was getting bit by mosquitoes. We came in the house and I went to take off his helmet so we could go play w/ toys, but he made it known that he did NOT want to take of his helmet. He insisted on wearing it the rest of the evening. I had to take it off to give him a bath, and he was not happy about that. But, he smelled so good and looked so handsome after his bath. It was cute to see him & Autumn together b/c they are so opposite in hair color, eye color, skin color, etc. But they were both so well behaved tonight.
Mom had gone upstairs to do some mending (fun thing to do on your birthday, huh) b/c Nate is also leaving tomorrow. These are some of his favorite pants, but they had a hole in the butt from when he longboards and his butt skims the ground. He had Mom add these crazy and loud patches. Bless his little heart. I am going to miss having him here so much. His time home has gone by way too fast.
I feel bad that we didn’t do more for Mom’s birthday. She’s always saying she just wants her kids to be happy and get along for her gift. I can’t believe she’s already 56, b/c she sure doesn’t look it or act like it. She is such an incredible woman and I am eternally grateful that she is mine & I am hers. We are more than just mother & daughter. We are twin spirits that were separated at birth. We think the same thing at the same time so often. We also finish each other’s sentences. I love her so much & am thankful we are best friends.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
MOTHER DEAR!
